24.01.2022 Congratulations to the players who made the Patriots team. The team will now prepare for the 2020 John Reid Shield National Championship, Canberra in January.

24.01.2022 Congratulations Julian - well done

23.01.2022 Thank you to Ipswich Softball Association for hosting Queensland Patriots for Patriots Day on Saturday. It’s such a great sight to see, when our elite players are passing on their knowledge to the next generation of young Softballers. The coaching clinic was fun and educational, the homerun derby provided some great entertainment with over 20 contestants and the exhibition game was exactly what the team needed as they prepare for Nationals in January. A massive thank you all of the kids, contestants and especially the Ipswich Allstar team. It was such a great day and hopefully you will have us again next year.

23.01.2022 Good luck to our U16 boys and girls teams traveling to Melbourne to compete at their respective National Championships.

08.01.2022 Softball Queensland is thrilled to announce the signing of David Metekingi as the Head Coach of the Patriots Open Men’s Team. This will be David’s first year coaching the Patriots. David has been head coach of the Queensland under 17 boys team since 2017. David had an impressive playing history, representing Queensland since 1992 and accumulated 13 years with the Patriots. David is the 89th player to represent the Queensland men’s team. He also represented Australia from 2004... 2010. In 2009 David was a member of World Championship winning Aussie Steelers team in Saskatoon Canada and in 2010 was inducted into the Softball Australia Hall of Fame as part of Australia’s 1st and only winning men’s team. A lot of fantastic players and officials have been a part of the Patriots since the team started 1985 and it’s an honour to be given the opportunity to coach this proud team. With the right guidance and recent success of U17, U19 & U23 male teams and the experience we have in the squad, the Patriots will be a force for years to come David Metekingi. Softball Queensland CEO Ross Symonds, Dave brings a combination of international playing experience with World Championship success as well as displaying the coaching ability to develop and upskill junior male athletes to put them in a position to compete both individually and collectively at an elite level. The Patriots head coach role comes with tremendous responsibility and accountability not just to performance and results at the John Reid Shield but also developing and implementing a culture that resonates through the male pathway and sets the Patriots program up for sustainable success.
