25.01.2022 Its not too late! There is still a little over 2 weeks of May remaining. Plenty of time to participate in the Run 4 Blue National Virtual Run. With registrations still open you can still do your bit for Police Legacy families and your own health and well being. Hop (or run) to it!!!!!

24.01.2022 You can help Queensland Police Legacy support Queensland Police families just by collecting your aluminium, glass, plastic, steel and liquid paperboard beverage containers between 150ml and three litres! Work units can do the same! Queensland Governments new recyclable container refund scheme commences on Thursday 01/11/2018. The scheme known as Containers for Change provides a 10 cent refund for each eligible recyclable container returned to a container refund point. Re...funds can be taken in cash, voucher or EFT or can even be donated to a charity that has registered with Containers for Change. You do this by quoting the Containers for Change ID number of the charity you wish to donate to at the collection point at the time of returning the containers. 20.01.2022 Every Australian Police Service/Force has a dedicated place of remembrance and reflection where homage and remembrance is paid to their fallen police officers. The Wall 2 Wall (W2W) motorcycle ride involves police from all over Australia riding from these special sites to the outskirts of Canberra. All riders there join together in a final gesture of solidarity and remembrance and ride through Canberra to the National Police Memorial for a short poignant ceremony. The Wall ...2 Wall (W2W) motorcycle ride has been a massive component of National Police Remembrance for the past 11 years. In that time the event and associated fundraising has raised in excess of $1 million for Police Legacy's around Australia to benefit the families of deceased police. Unfortunately the current Covid 19 pandemic has resulted in the cancellation of the ride in Canberra including the pre-ride mustering at Exhibition Park, the form-up on the Federal Highway outside Canberra, the mass ride through Canberra to the National Police Memorial and all rider participation or visits to the National Police Memorial. This also means that many of the fundraising events associated with the W2W have also been cancelled. One fundraiser that is still proceeding as planned is the W2W raffle. The W2W has been privileged to have Yamaha Motorcycles as a major partner since the W2W's inception. Each year Yamaha have donated a motorcycle for a raffle with all funds raised going to Police Legacy organisations. This year Yamaha Motorcycles have donated a Yamaha MT09 valued at $14,099 ride away. 18.01.2022 Those intrepid trekkers who took part in the Everest Base Camp Trek for Police 2019 have all returned home from their 18 day adventure a little wearier and a little lighter with a bunch of new found friends and smiles a mile wide. Together, with the trek hosts Earthtrails Expeditions, they have raised $20401.75 for Queensland Police Legacy families! What a great effort! The photo below was taken on Monday 6th May at EBC. For those of you who expressed interest in attending... this year but missed out due to limitations on the size of the trekking party or for those that think they might like to challenge themselves whilst supporting a great cause, I have great news. The partnership between Queensland Police Legacy and Earthtrails Expeditions is ongoing. Plans are underway for a 2020 trek, likely commencing mid March. 15.01.2022 QPUE General Secretary Mick Barnes attended the Queensland Police Legacy office today and handed over a cheque for $16439.80 being monies raised from registrations for and fundraising on the 2019 Wall 2 Wall ride. Over the decade the W2W has been run, riders and supporters through the W2W event have raised over $136000 for Queensland Police Legacy families. Queensland Police Legacy are most grateful for this fantastic support that assists us in helping those Queensland Police families that have been struck by tragedy. Heres hoping the Covid 19 situation doesnt impact on registrations and clears in time for the successful conduct of the 2020 W2W!

12.01.2022 Unfortunately the Covid 19 situation has impacted directly upon Queensland Police Legacy fundraising activities. Due to the Nepalese Government placing all tourist visas on hold and cancelling all trekking and climbing expeditions effective from 14/03/2020 to 30/04/2020, the Everest Base Camp Trek 4 Police which was due to depart yesterday 15/03/2020 had to be called off. Earthtrails Expeditions have worked tirelessly in liaising with airlines, insurance companies, etc so t...hat those willing and able to go in early 2021 will not suffer any financial loss. They did this for us whilst at the same time negotiating the return home of their paramedics who were already in Nepal. The good news is that plans are underway for the trek to go ahead from late February to early March 2021. Eleven of the twenty spots on the trek are already gone so if you are keen, keep an eye out for advice which will be released over the next few months.
