22.01.2022 The QCG Portrait Group had its final meeting for 2020 this morning. Members met in the Japanese Garden at Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens. It was a serious challenge to find appropriate light on such a sunny day, but it was fun to be together again and time passed quickly. Coffee was good too! Photos by Gaye Edwards.

20.01.2022 Congratulations to QCG which received an Honourable Mention by placing equal 10th in our very first entry in the APS Australian Cup with 403 points. There were 67 club entries in total with a fabulous number of four Queensland clubs in the top 10 - Caboolture scored equal third with us with Redlands and Peninsula scoring higher . QCG's overall score shows an average of 7 or 8 points out of 9 for each image . Additionally, a very big shout out to Nick Lefebvre whose... stunning Afternoon Stroll received one of the coveted Judges Choice awards - one image chosen by each of the three judges is given this award. Huge props to our selection committee - the whole of QCG - and Elizabeth Riley who created our call for entries and the selection process in My Photo Club. Congrats to Australian Horizons Photography Club (NSW) who were the overall winners and our thanks to Margaret O'Grady and the Australian Photographic Society for hosting this event and the Zoom announcement attended by around 200 people!

19.01.2022 Announced today! Congragulations to all winners and a special shout out to QCG member John Kelly who made it into the top 50 with his black and white entry in the Open category, 'Surfer's Sunrise'.

18.01.2022 Congratulations to Roger Bartlet who received a Highly Commended in the Mono Awards in the Places Category. Rog has been sorting through a few health issues (he's better than ever now!) so great to celebrate this success with him. When recently entered in the club's black and white competition, Roger said the judge didn't think much of this image, so just goes to show, different strokes for different folks! Shoot to please yourself and you'll always be a winner.

17.01.2022 A sign of the times! Magnet Galleries in Melbourne have produced this virtual exhibition for the MACPP as the real exhibition has been cancelled due to COVID-19. Have a look around and check out Anne Pappalardo's Small People Big World which is among the 34 shortlisted entries. Winners announced tomorrow night - via Zoom of course!

15.01.2022 QCG's monthy photo shoot was a fabulous day today in the Lockyer Valley and in particular at the Mulgowie Markets which hosted their annual Pet Parade. Super-excited to meet new QCG members Georgie and Colleen as well as regular members . Big love to those QCGers who gave the crowds a miss, instead making their way (socially distanced of course) to the ever-fabulous, the never-disappointing Fernvale Bakery and other points in this amazing part of the region. Our thanks to Esther for arranging a great day out for all - it's nice to know we're safely supporting tourism in areas that need it now.

QCG has had a long history of valuing the printed image, and with the planned reintroduction of prints into our competitions, this talk will be very timely.
