24.01.2022 New figures show women working full time still earn, on average, 14% less than men working full time. And we know that women are more likely than men to be imp...acted by COVID-19 job losses. The community service sector, which ACOSS represents, is made up 80% women, who deliver crucial services, including domestic violence, mental health and homelessness services. Community service workers should be paid fairly for their important work. But the Federal Government is refusing to commit to renew funding for equal pay (SACS ERO supplementation) for staff in the community service sector. Cutting funding for community sector workers would mean less people to help those who reach out in times of great need and would make the Gender Pay Gap even worse. In the lead up to Equal Pay Day on August 28, the COSS Network is calling on the Federal Government to commit to fair funding for equal pay. ACTCOSS - ACT Council of Social Service Inc.
