22.01.2022 "Even if you only have 1 song, send it in." Amy Shark's winner statement from the 2016 QMAs: In my world, winning the Queensland Music Award for Pop song of the year was undoubtedly a game-changer. The opportunities that it has provided me I truly believe will change my life. I have just returned from New York City where I met with a major record label, this is how much my life has changed since earlier this year. I was beyond excited when I was nominated and never thought... I would win. I will never forget that night no matter how far my music takes me. It still makes me smile. To be recognised in your home state is something very special. I highly recommend that every single musician applies to be part of these awards. Even if you only have 1 song, send it in. The opportunities are endless and no matter what anyone tells me, I know deep down, the Queensland Music Awards were the kickstart to the success I have achieved in 2016.
