25.01.2022 We don’t mean to blow our own trumpet, but we think this is some great teamwork! This young musician's trumpet went on quite the journey after being accidentally left on one of our services, travelling all the way from Ferny Grove to Beenleigh. Thanks to the determination of our train guard, station staff and control room team, the trumpet travelled over 100km back to Ferny Grove where the owner and his dad were waiting! ... Thanks to everyone involved for a great effort!
25.01.2022 Introducing Manmeet A member of our Station Customer Communications Team. Manmeets duties include developing and overseeing staff rosters, payroll duties, responding to customer feedback and coordinating station signage and other collateral requirements between Stations and the Community Engagement team. Manmeet was born in the north western Indian state of Punjab and moved to Australia with his parents 26 years ago. My favourite part of this role is working alongside e...mployees from diverse cultural backgrounds. I believe that as human beings, we are all subject to unconscious bias in one way or another, but the more we are aware of this, the more we can alleviate this problem. Throughout August, well be sharing some profiles and insights into the diverse backgrounds of some of our employees as part of Queensland Multicultural Month 2020. Thank you for sharing, Manmeet! #WeAllBelong

24.01.2022 Last night one of our train drivers had to stop en route to Kippa-Ring station as he spotted this lil' koala on the tracks! After alerting our Rail Management Centre, two other services were stopped from passing through while traincrew from the Kippa-Ring depot helped the koala off the tracks. The koala hung out on the pole until team members from the Pine Rivers Koala Association arrived and took the koala into their care. As a result, Redcliffe Peninsula line customers may have experienced a small delay near Kippa-Ring station last night. We appreciate your patience while this koality rescue took place!

23.01.2022 Today we're taking you back in time to Southport station's very last passenger service! After being officially open for 75 years, the Southport line closed to traffic on 1 July 1964. The final service departed South Brisbane at 5.40pm on 30 June 1964 to transport passengers to Southport for the very last time. Usually this service would stop in Southport overnight, however to mark the occasion the train did a special passenger round trip! Does anyone remember this journey?

22.01.2022 This lil train enthusiast was spotted on the tracks by one of our drivers at Mango Hill station today. The driver promptly stopped the train to shoo the koala away, but the train spotter found a new home on a pole close to the tracks to keep an eye on the trains zooming by. This was still a little too close for comfort for us as the koala didnt have the right koalafications to be there, so our Rail Operations Response Unit (RORU) teamed up with the Pine Rivers Koala Ca...re Association to rescue the koala, who is now getting a check over before being released back into the wild. Thanks to everyone involved in this koality rescue, and a reminder to keep outside of the rail corridor (unless you are properly koalafied, of course!).

09.01.2022 Wondering what life in the pits was like? We're glad you asked! Ash pits were commonly used in the steam-train era, allowing the locomotives to have their fires cleaned at the depot. After the fires were cleaned, the ash was then removed from the pits by labourers shovelling and at the Mayne locomotive depot by a compressed air hoist, utilising a skip and a wire pulley system. Once the ash was in the skip, it was transported to a waiting dump wagon, which was cleared by daily shunts. : S Garth Fraser / Queensland Rail Historical Collection. 22 August, 1950.
