14.01.2022 The Queensland Reconstruction Authority has developed an innovative new mapping application that will help Queensland councils better understand their risk, costs and repeat damage from natural disaster events. The Repeat Events and Dollars Index (REDI) is a web-based interactive mapping application that uses data to provide a calculation that considers repeat damage from natural disasters. This data is represented in a heat map that identifies and highlights the most frequ...ent and most costly damage sites. The application helps councils identify priority works and make informed decisions when it comes to future investment in stronger and more resilient infrastructure. To develop REDI, the QRA collected a huge amount of geo-coded data across about 600,000 damage locations on more than 20,000 assets in the 77 local government authorities in Queensland. For more information on REDI visit www.qra.qld.gov.au/REDI For accessibility: image shows map of Queensland with spots showing damage locations. Text to the right of the map reads - Helping councils get REDI for the next disaster

13.01.2022 Get to the choppa!!! Frank, the project manager for the North West Queensland Flood Warning Infrastructure Network Project (FWIN), needed to choose the last few sites for new flood warning equipment in his region. Using the helicopter he was able to get to 16 sites spanning from the NT border west... of Doomadgee to the Gilbert River Crossing on the eastern side of Carpentaria. Frank was also kind enough to snap a few pictures for us while he was out there Through the FWIN, equipment will be installed or repaired in over 70 locations throughout North West Queensland. This equipment will better protect Queensland communities by ensuring they are well informed when there’s flood risk in their region. For more info visit: https://www.qra.qld.gov.au/fwin/north-west-queensland The FWIN project was approved as part of the $242 million Category C and D Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements package, jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments #DRFAQld
