A reminder for those registered for this weekends Hinchinbrook Sportfishing Festival that our Friday meet & greet starts at 6pm tonight.... The evening will include... - free sausage sizzle to participants - weekend activities & fishing briefing - lucky door prize (lethal lures barra slayer in QLD Sportfishers custom colours) Please remember to BYO drinks There will however be a few softdrinks and bottled waters available as back up in exchange for a gold coin donation.

21.01.2022 Our Media officer Matt Leavy has recaptured one of the William Ross High School Barra that we donated tags for in 2018. It’s good to see that this fish is doing well after the trip over the weir into the salt.

Don't worry Android users we have you covered too Apple users here is the iOS link in t...he Apple app store. https://apps.apple.com/au/app/id1534191123 Android users, we are waiting for our Google approved version of the app to be dropped into the Google Play store. However in the meantime if you would like to download the Android version to your phone here is a link to our short tutorial downloading it directly from the Gone Fishing Day server. https://tmftournaments.com/gone-fishing-day-android-downlo/ It only takes an extra 10 seconds longer than usual. Just read the short instructions and pictures in the tutorial and scroll to the bottom and select the download button to begin the installation process. 11.01.2022 Awesome weather and company combined to make the club trip to Lenthals a big success. Barra were the target species and over 20 were landed along with some nice... bass. Others opted to release theirs a little prematurely . Thanks to the members of other clubs making the effort to come out and visit as well. In the senior male section we have a bolter in Chris Bache but for the senior female, junior & sub-junior sections it’s anyone’s game! There’s still one day to go so good luck Sportfishers. Fishing stops at 6pm Monday 5th Oct and entries must be submitted by midnight Tuesday.

This new app will allow you to: identify catch by submitting... a photo and leveraging the app’s fish recognition functionality, which uses artificial intelligence to identify a limited number of common fish species (you can help improve the fish recognition functionality by submitting your fish photos to help train our fish recognition tool) understand the fishing rules that apply in your current location by using the ‘Can I Fish Here?’ functionality receive Fisheries Queensland notifications, including reminders about upcoming closures purchase a permit to fish in one of our 63 stocked dams or weirs (via a link to the Australia Post SIPS sales platform) learn more about your catch, such as the approximate age of a fish based on the size you enter in the app contact Fisheries Queensland to submit information or make an enquiry or complaint The new recreational fishing app can be used in remote locations or in locations with limited mobile signal reception. The app uses cached species information and simplified mapping information as part of its offline functionality. Photos of fish are only used to help train the app’s artificial intelligence. The new recreational fishing app does not collect or store personal information about the user or where they are fishing. You can download the app for free by searching for ‘Qld Fishing 2.0’ in the App Store and via Google Play.

06.01.2022 BARRA CLOSURE A closed season for barramundi applies to Queensland’s east coast from 12:01 am on 1 November 2020 and ends at 11:59 pm on 31 January 2021. D...uring this time it is also prohibited to deliberately target barramundi for catch and release, as the stress of capture may prevent a fish from spawning. See more

03.01.2022 And last but not least our champion club for the Hinchinbrook Sportfishing Festival weekend with 20 species is... Kingaroy! While Kingaroy walked away with the top honour, it was Bribie Island walking away with the dreaded stump award for taking out the wooden spoon. Jeff Snell & Graham Weston from Cardwell (last year’s recipient) were very happy to present Greg Moore with Bribie’s award.
