23.01.2022 In Semester 1 of 2021 we will be offer 'Christian Ministry in Islamic Settings' with Richard Shumack. Understanding and engaging with Islam is clearly one of the greatest social and missional challenges the church faces at present. Muslim communities are growing in Australia and we see the impact of radical Islam around the world. In this unit we will explore the many different ways Christians are seeking to engage positively with Muslims in their local communities, as well ...as across the world. Issues of culture and contextualisation will also be reviewed. This is a must for contemporary Christians. This unit helps Christians understand the history of Islam and the range of interpretations of Islam across the various Muslim groups. We will review biblical and theological perspectives on Islam and look at Christian-Muslim worldview comparisons.

05.01.2022 Meet David and Laura Hannay! In their local church, David served as an elder and was actively involved in preaching and youth group. Laura was full time at home, taking care of five children and being active in their local church, helping to facilitate the church playgroup and hosting a ladies bible study in their home and occasionally teaching Sunday school. In 2018, we heard from family in Scotland that David Robertson (then a pastor in Dundee, near where Laura grew up) s...poke in Brisbane, so we went along to QTC to hear him knowing nothing about QTC or its mission and ministry. It was there that Laura picked up a flyer for the M2W course, which she signed up for and went along to in early 2019. Laura found this to be a breath of fresh air and became interested in studying and learning in the QTC environment. Initially, I (David) was reluctant, believing that we did not need an institution to teach us God’s Word while we have our Bible and the Holy Spirit. Nevertheless, we went along to a QTC Info Night and were encouraged to attend a Monday evening lecture. Listening to Mark Baddley, we were blown away at the depth and insight of the teaching. We realised that our attempts at self-disciplined study hadn’t got us very far. Why shouldn’t l? We were convinced a Bible College was the best place for us to be trained and equipped for the work of the gospel and that we should sign up to study at QTC. We love that in QTC, we have found a community of passionate and gospel-driven believers who are desperate to be equipped to share the good news of Jesus with others. The QTC Info Night on May 10th is the perfect opportunity to talk to staff and students about how you also can be further equipped for the work of the gospel. To register for the Info Night, head to qtc.edu.au
