25.01.2022 Gotta luv scoring a new roadie !

21.01.2022 Liège-Bastogne-Liège édition 1980 reste gravée dans les mémoires des amoureux du cyclisme. Jamais un classique du printemps n'aura aussi mal porté son nom ! Dès... les premiers kilomètres, le peloton subit des averses de neige dans un froid glacial... Un vent froid qui a soufflé sur la Belgique a apporté des flocons de neige, puis une intense chute de neige au moment du départ de la course. Les coureurs ont lutté avec le froid, avec les mains sur le front pour garder une vue sur la route. La course était une masse anonyme de vestes et de blousons en plastique. Les spectateurs se tenaient avec les lunettes comme des bonhommes de neige haut de gamme, le visage rouge dans l'amertume. Après une heure certaines équipes avaient à peine un seul homme sur la route. Ils abandonnent par deux douzaines à la fois, des hommes comme Gibi Baronchelli, Giuseppe Saronni, Lucien Van Impe et Jean-René Bernaudeau. Deux coureurs, Rudy Pevenage et Ludo Peeters, se détachent du peloton brisée et ont une avance de 2 minutes et 15 secondes lors de la montée de la côte de Stockeu. Bernard Hinault s'échappe à son tour avec Silvano Contini et Henk Lubberding et, au bout de 20 km de chasse, le groupe Hinault rejoint les leaders sur la côte de la Haute-Levée. À 80 km de l'arrivée, Hinault attaque en solo sur les routes enneigées et labouré autour de Liège. Après sept heures de course dans des températures glaciales, il termine avec près de 10 minutes d'avance sur Hennie Kuiper pour s'adjuger son deuxième Liège-Bastogne-Liège après 1977 Les coureurs étaient 174 au départ, 21 seront classés à l'arrivée: 1. 11.01.2022 Ok Ive been asked a few times tried to come up with a solution for anyone who feels the urge to roll out for a retro ride this Sunday. Leaving from New Farm park, at 0700 riding in pairs with 1 min intervals !!! Same old route out to Nudgee beach with loop and then back to New Farm park. There is a little cafe near the childrens playground on the northern side towards the Powerhouse. We can grab a quick coffee before hand and after. Lots of space for parking and for sussing out the new acquisitions or upgrades. It will be simply a low key affair and a quick catch up to see how everyone is travelling. We could discuss a possible long slow ride to support Montys charity events. Cheers Cam

This month theme is modern steel ! So if you have a modern steelisreal machine then bring it ! Normal conditions ie start at La Dolce Vita Park Rd Milton @ 0700 after a quick duo expresso then a zip out to the beach and then a loop through Boondall/Sandgate and then back into Tandem Cafe for co...ffee and beers. This months guest speaker has gladly offered to give us some of his time after a potentially seedy night is Josh Woods, who is 1/2 of the Woods Bicycles Company. Josh and his brother Zac make those stunningly beautiful custom Woods steel roadies that we have seen hanging around !
