25.01.2022 Gold Coast Side for 50+ Div 1 Final this weekend

24.01.2022 Today was the first time that a Brisbane 50+ side has played this season. Our mate Peter Sherman never made it through the off season. The Brisbane Maroon and Toowoomba sides in a fitting tribute had a minute silence. With some great words from skipper Trent Ryan Queensland Cricket Valley District Cricket Club

22.01.2022 Well Deserved honour!

21.01.2022 Memo to: International Team Managers Memo from: Qld Veterans Cricket Organising Committee Topic: World Cup Postponement... Date: 11 June 2020 Memo #4 Dear Managers, It has been a difficult period since the outbreak of Covid 19 earlier in 2020. Luckily Queensland seems to have escaped relatively unscathed with the second best ratio of infections per 100,000 in Australia, just over 20 people and currently only 3 infections. Gradually we are being given greater freedom and can now travel and stay anywhere in Qld, however our borders remain closed and self isolation is still occurring if you can manage to get a ticket into Qld. Whilst the pandemic is slowly being controlled in most Nations there are still some places where the outbreaks are far from being under control. I hope you have all managed to keep family, friends and yourselves safe. The QVC Organising Committee has taken the difficult decision to postpone the World Cup until a similar time (Oct/Nov) in 2021, a decision ratified by VCA. We have agonised over this decision but in the end we have had to make the hard call. It came down to the fact that internationally there is no timeline for the resumption of International travel, many nations have border restrictions in place and self quarantine is still required on entry in many Nations. We hope that you understand. We have been in regular communication with our Travel Consultant, Zoe who has advised that credit for early bookings will be available however refunds will prove to be more difficult. Zoe will make contact with all nations in the next week Our Committee anticipates that it will re-commence the planning process once again from the very beginning. We are confident that we can do an even better job of providing an exciting and challenging 60’s World Cup in Oct/Nov 2021. Please feel free to contact me or offer advice on the 2021 event. 17.01.2022 https://www.epetitions.brisbane.qld.gov.au/petiti//pid/903 Community cricket facilities at C.P. Bottomley Park are currently threatened with removal. Concerningly this action has been endorsed by Brisbane City Council (BCC) and without consultation with the local Councillor, Kara Cook who is in full support of Coorparoo Cricket remaining on site. Coorparoo CC represent grass roots cricket within eastern suburban Brisbane. We are an integral part of the development curve fo...r our National sport. Collectively we immediately represent over 1000 players, members, supporters and sponsors, as well as a diverse range of gender, ethnicity and age. Our common link is the long term use of Peter Burge Oval (C.P. Bottomley Park) for the playing of junior and senior cricket. There is over 50 years of incredible cricket history and culture associated with Bottomley Park. Coorparoo CC, a fully voluntary organisation, grew player numbers by 40% last year, and has become a substitute men’s shed accordingly. We are aware of BCC driving the removal of cricket from Peter Burge Oval to allow a local rugby club unrestricted access. We unreservedly oppose this action that defies community belief, and request an immediate withdrawal of the proposed action, in order to preserve the historical playing of cricket at the facility. In layman’s terms this action does not pass the pub test, and sets an incredibly awkward precedence for the thousands of similar shared sports fields across Australia. This action was executed with no consultation with any of the cricket clubs or relevant cricket governing bodies. This action is troubling given the current community restrictions. Please sign the petition to SAVE LOCAL CRICKET IN INNER CITY BRISBANE FOR THE COMMUNITY! https://www.epetitions.brisbane.qld.gov.au/petiti//pid/903 We really need your support, please share this far and wide, thank you!
