23.01.2022 Townsville Northern Suburbs Lions Club Last night I had the honour of representing QYS at the Townsville Northern Suburbs Lions Club and telling the club about the programs we run. This club has made QYS the recipient of money raised in their current Christmas raffle which they are selling alongside of their Christmas cakes at Annandale Central shopping centre. So get along there and buy a Lions Christmas cake and a couple of raffle tickets. Great prizes to be won. Who wouldn"t like a couple of nights at Peppers Blue on Blue Resort. 22.01.2022 Last week our program's celebrated Christmas with a Luncheon, bringing our community together to celebrate the crazy year we have had. Thank-you to Townsville City Council for the generous contribution to enable us to provide a Christmas luncheon at Kirwan Aquatic Center and Love2Swim School! 15.01.2022 Are you (or do you know) a young person who has a talent that could lead to self-employment? Maybe photography, animal care, cooking, dressmaking etc, if so then read on!! QYS will be partnering with the Australian School of Entrepreneurship to offer 15 young people the opportunity to start their own business!! This is a 14 week personalised mentoring and support course with 4 hours being in-person here at QYS training room (every Friday 9am-1pm, commencing on the 14th Augu...st) with a graduation ceremony at the end of the program. Some funding could also be available to assist with startup costs. A commitment to the 14 weeks of training is essential, young person must be aged between 15-20 years and resides in Townsville. If you hold a valid Human Services card (Health Care card/Pensioner Concession card) you can apply for a voucher to assist with club registration costs (Registered Approved Activity Providers/Clubs might include sporting clubs, Scouts or Girl Guides, Lawn Bowls and Ten Pin Bowling, Gymnastics, Taekwondo, Horse riding, Archery, Rock Climbing etc). If you don't hold a Human Services card but are in genuine financial need or don't have access to a computer or internet access to apply, then we, as referring agents, can assist you!!
