24.01.2022 Another great event this Friday!

22.01.2022 A great version of Summertime was just one of many exquisitely crafted covers as well as originals, thoroughly enjoyed by all judging by the responses and standing ovation. Truly a wonderful afternoon with Christine Collister and Michael Fix playing to a full house. Plus a very convivial coffee break, with donations for the home baked slices and cakes raising $164.85 for UNICEFs Yemen Crisis Appeal. Thank you to all who were here

22.01.2022 Wingham Folk Club is going strong! Last Friday of every month at 7pm.

21.01.2022 Stephen Taberner is coming to Queen St Hall! This is a very special concert! Please register your intention to come as it is likely to attract a lot of people and we would like to be prepared with seating and intermission refreshments. Email Sandra as per the poster, or leave a comment or message here. We are so excited! Stephen, Jack and Coral are brilliant.

20.01.2022 If you were at last years Acoustic Fringe you will definitely remember Keegan Gibson and his lightning fast fingers on acoustic guitar. If you werent there, h...ere is a sample, so you know what you missed. Dont miss him this time round! A Great Lakes student last year, Keegan has gone on to a Bachelor of Music course at Newcastle, having been invited to perform in the prestigious Bravissimo concert at the Glasshouse earlier this year. It will be great to welcome him back, scheduled for 3.40pm.

20.01.2022 Wow! Queen St Hall is transformed into a big healing therapy room (massage etc) with this spread laid out in the back supper room for sustenance! All FREE to help relax and rejuvenate all in our fire affected community. Come now! Til 12.30...

19.01.2022 Sofiella Watt, from the Far North Coast, almost needs no introduction as she grew up here, a beloved Mid North Coaster! Sofiella has been writing songs since ch...ildhood, and though still young, she has travelled, worked, lived and performed in many parts of Europe and North America. So her pool of things to write about is indeed wide and deep, as is the appreciation of her audience when she warmly and disarmingly shares her stories, sung so beautifully with clear resonant vocals over self-accompanied guitar and banjo. Come and be entranced by Sofiella in person at 4pm on the day, you will want to after watching this gorgeous video...enjoy!

19.01.2022 Have you caught on to the Rock Painting trend? NSW ROCKS invites everyone to share photos of rocks they have found or hidden. Come and create some in fun and friendship at the Acoustic Fringe Festival on 26 Oct, with Kate Sutton, the most prolific rock painter in this Valley! We hope the many artists we have around Wingham might also come and make their mark in stone. Christina Hall has already hidden some beauties at this hall where she runs regular ART CLASSES!

19.01.2022 The wonderful Maggie Young and team are offering this beautiful event to help all of us in this community. We have all been affected. Please share! Please come and receive replenishing treatments so generously and lovingly given!

18.01.2022 We are SOOO excited for tonight!! So 55 people have emailed or commented to RSVP. We can fit 70 to 80. If people arrive without booking that is fine but priority seating will be given to those who did. Stephen is a super talented musician and wit, leader of the famous Spooky Men who packed out the MEC in 2018, so it is bound to be a thoroughly engaging and entertaining night!

17.01.2022 A recent snap of Wingsong Choir inside the cosy venue of the Oct 26 Acoustic Fringe! Right after the noon lunch interval and portrait painting session...more about that soon! Also, you can catch Wingsong TOMORROW (Fri) at the Wingham Akoostik Festival at 6.00pm. 14.01.2022 Wingham Folk Clubs Bardic Circle will next convene at the @Acoustic Fringe Festival event as the 10.30am act right after the Folk Dance Workshop! For festival-goers who want to try out this great concept, it happens like this: We sit in a circle (approx). When the hat lands in your lap, you can PLAY a song (or poetry or prose or a good joke!), PICK someone else to play or accompany you, or PASS if you are content to just enjoy listening as audience. Guided by Folk Club initiators, Sandy Gray and Susan M. Stott, both songstresses in their own right, this is bound to be great fun and your chance to share something you love with others. The essence of "folk" spirit!

14.01.2022 Collister & Fix starting in 10 minutes at 3, Janeece preparing for intermission coffee and cakes! Yay!

11.01.2022 "Folkdance is a delightful way to be with others, exercise body and mind, discover different and beautiful music, and forget your worries!" - Sandra Bassetti At... 10am we are kicking off by kicking up our heels with Sandras workshop! You will be guided step by step through simple fun dances from Bulgarian and Macedonian traditions, by a true expert we are lucky to have in this region. Sandra was trained in classical ballet, ran her own Academy for many years, is a founding member of Folk Dance Australia (est.1988) and has travelled extensively to refine her art. Come and take part, or watch and toe-tap from the sidelines!

11.01.2022 Meet our youngest performer, 11yo Evie McGuire-Wood (selfie supplied by Evie) a child of this Valley who is developing a deep love and compassion for its unique... natural beauty and environment. Evie recently delivered a powerful speech, impressing hundreds in Fotheringham Park, showing wisdom and courage beyond her years. But her communication skills are not limited to speech! Evie loves to sing and play ukulele, and is also learning guitar. She is inspired by female Australian musicians including Courtney Barnett and Jack River. Evie says she is excited to be performing alongside other musicians from this area and beyond. And we are excited to welcome her! Catch Evie at around 11.50am, at the end of the Folk Clubs Bardic Circle (which will include Evies teacher, the wonderful Jim Kelly!)

10.01.2022 Watch out for these guys at 3pm on the day: Sweet n Swampy combining with The Rewbies! Their recent gig at The Australian Hotel was a great crowd-pleaser, vario...usly mellow and mesmerising, evocative and energising, skilfully and soulfully rendering an eclectic repertoire, some well-loved that will have you irresistibly singing along. Meet lead singer Margaret Rew (holding her guitar), her daughter Ellie (holding her wee baby Leon), Ellies soul-partner Taylor (holding Ellies elbow), John Melville (right) and Hugh Cowley (left) holding their leads. All excellent musicians creating a fantastic sound together!

05.01.2022 With sadness but many happy memories, we announce that our well-loved Queen St Hall venue has been sold. The current uses will cease at the end of November. It is impossible to recap in one post the sum of all the wonderful group activities and cultural events that happened here over the last seven years. We took over at the end of 2014 an endeavour to run a community hall under private ownership. It has been whole-heartedly embraced by so many in Wingham and beyond! Rob and ...I can't thank enough everyone who came through the doors in the spirit of friendship, seeking fulfillment for self and others, a kinder loving world, music, art and well-being, and generously contributing to the hall costs as well as many charities we supported along the way. Although we won't be able to gather in the numbers we used to for any grand farewell event, a number of users are planning their own 'final' events for restricted numbers. We will likely hold a low-key garage sale to sell/give away various items on Sat 28th Nov, so do drop in and have a cuppa with us! We do have some ideas brewing for continuing some activities, mainly around live music, into the future, at a nearby public venue TBA. Meanwhile this page will remain active, at the very least for the archive of many great stills and videos, and record of things that went on in this wonderful, warm, reverberating space! With love and gratitude to our extended Queen St Hall family, Sandra and Rob

05.01.2022 A beautiful concert and Q&A evening with supper, THIS FRIDAY at 7pm!

We are looking forward to hearing Liam play his trumpet at the Acoustic Fringe at around 4.40pm. What a treat!
