25.01.2022 You matter. You are loved. You are not alone. We stand in solidarity and fight injustice at the intersection of LGBTQI+ and black equality being recognised during this years Pride Month. Pride originated because of the Stonewall riots led by queer and trans people of colour in June 1969 who bravely took a stand against police brutality and inequality. This is what Pride stands for. 22.01.2022 At our #NationalComingOutDay event we asked QIPs for three words to describe their coming out. Relief was the most common feeling followed by liberating and scary. This echoed the panel discussion which highlighted the freedom, growth and empowerment that can come from telling your family, friends or colleagues that you are LGBTIQ+ identifying. No journey is the same, and theres no single way to be out, but we hope some of these words will provide encouragement on your journey. 20.01.2022 Mark Latham has introduced a hurtful piece of legislation to the NSW Parliament preventing schools from acknowledging the existence of our trans and gender diverse students. 16.01.2022 So proud of Queerleader Victoria Dixon, Project Coordinator and Diversity Champion at Multiplex who was recently interviewed by Gazella Blog to talk about about the importance of diversity for property and construction companies. A big thank you to Gazella for helping us shine a light on LGBTIQ+ inclusion in our sector. In Torys words being a part of QIPs was about looking beyond self-centred pursuits and towards what I might be able to bring into someone elses life. I realised by being afraid and invisible I wasnt helping anyone, not even myself. We want you to always have someone to talk to - whether its a property question, moral support, or just someone to vent to about Canadas Drag Race. As we celebrate Wear It Purple Day tomorrow, we want to remind you to be who you needed when you were younger and stand up for our brave rainbow youth. 75% of LGBTIQ+ youth in Australia will be bullied because of their identity, its up to us to help provide them with safe, inclusive and empowering environments to thrive.
