25.01.2022 Original hand-painted motifs for our pattern Tapestry. We paint our designs in black and add colour digitally. It's not dissimilar to working with a photographic stencil when making silk screens. The subtleties of the ink and paper are often enhanced in the process, and sometimes the more roughly painted the stronger the character. https://instagr.am/p/CCmLkLFHYpA/

25.01.2022 MORPH was inspired by the Shibori dying technique of Japan. The process is similar to tie-dying, but the finished result is a lot more controlled, with a soft watercolour effect bleeding into the background. Traditionally in Japan, Shibori uses deep indigo-blue dyes. We have used this inspiration to create 6 colours of this pattern. The events that followed nudged us in to evaluating our business principles: what we take and what we can give back. This included omitting things in a landscape painting such as power lines. How marvellous is this work by Marie Mansfield @mariemansfieldart who sees not only beauty in the telegraph pole but the street tree savagely hacked into shape in order to avoid the wires and taking on a new sculptural form.
