07.01.2022 In Australian cities, most of us are a little carefree when it comes to water usage. Lately we have all been hearing a lot about the Australian drought and how badly it is affecting our farmers. In Sydney, we are currently on water restrictions. Water is a valuable resource and we shouldn’t waste it. At Quick-flo Plumbing Solutions, we are here to help with fixing those leaks and offering water saving alternatives around your home. ... Here are some water saving tips for you: - Check for dripping taps and have them fixed. Dripping taps aren’t just annoying, they can waste up to 128 litres of water per day. To repair a dripping tap, it may need a washer replaced or the tap to be re-seated. - Check for leaking toilets. Often you can hear water running into the toilet but sometimes your toilet can have a silent leak. We suggest placing a square of toilet tissue on the back wall of your toilet bowl to see if it gets wet. If it does, or you have staining running down the back of the bowl, chances are that you have a leak. - Older style toilets can use around 18 litres of water per full flush. The newer low flush toilets can use as little as 4.5 litres per full flush and 3 litres per half flush. - Most shower heads these days use 9 litres of water per minute. That means that a 10 minute shower will use 90 litres of water. Shorten your showers to 4 minutes, that’s a lot of water saving. - We sometimes come across households who have removed their water saving device in the shower rose as they feel the flow is not enough. Think of how much extra water you are wasting for every shower without it. - Modern dishwashers are more water efficient than handwashing so use your dishwasher or install one if you don’t already have one. We can install a new dishwasher for you but we won’t be there to pack it for you each night though - Ensure you have a full load of laundry in your washing machine or a full load in your dishwasher before turning them on. - Turn off your tap while brushing your teeth. - Did you know that a standard garden hose uses around 18 litres of water per minute? These are just a few tips to help you save water around the home.
