24.01.2022 The 2020 golf season wrapped up on Saturday afternoon with the GILBY & TONKIN MECHANICAL sponsored event. How fortunate we are to have generous sponsors such as Jess & Zach - your support is greatly appreciated! 21 players thoroughly enjoyed the festivities and it was pleasing to see so many new faces at the Clubhouse. There was certainly a concerted effort by all participants to drink the bar dry. The Medal of Medals Final (Competition to find out the Club’s biggest burglar)... was an absolute thriller with Brett Hamlyn winning on countback from Ken Stuart. Ken is currently receiving counselling after leaking oil badly over the closing holes. Congratulations Burra! The major prizes were lucky door prizes and were won by Greg Hoffman and Trigger Smith. Congratulations guys! Thank You to everyone who has contributed to making 2020 a very successful year for our Club. Our Open Weekend was up 25% on last year and promises to be even bigger next August. We will also be hosting the Outback Masters on July 3&4 next year and that will be a huge opportunity for our Club to showcase the excellent facilities we have to offer. Property magnate Dave Bodkin & Friendly Grocer Bruce Paulsen timed their run beautifully to clinch victory on the very last hole of this prestigious event. Damien McNair and Brendan Horsten played impeccable golf on the front nine (1 under) but haemorrhaged badly over the... closing holes. Damiens drive on No 12B will be long remembered as he made a mockery of the Par4 with a massive drive which finished just 2.76 metres from the pin. Club champ Al McNall teamed up with our local macropod harvester Mick Crack and together they were hoping to shoot low and accurately but word has it that the plumber was unable to drain any putts. Matt Christie won the approach shot on No 15 and Roger Volz won the October Mug with a Nett 68. The September Monthly Mug was played on the 20th, with 6 golfers competing. Neil Smith won the Monthly Mug with a Nett 79 and Matt Christie showed his form taking away the $ in the APV Turkey's Nest on No 18,

03.01.2022 Another great day @ the Quilpie Golf Club last Saturday with 27 players participating in Tradies Day. Special mention to Kevin Richardson & Alan McNall for their kind support of our Club- what a couple of champs! The afternoon ended up being a charity day for Trigger and Kenneth Stuart as they blitzed the strong field before winning raffles and lucky door prizes along the way. Trigger, Rocky & Kenny played the round of their life and have since proclaimed themselves to be the Awesome Threesome. Kenny also won a $300.00 voucher @ Quilpies leading butchery and Trigger took home a scooter, 2 Water pistols and a fire bin in our weekly raffles.
