DDMGs: Longreach DDMG Charleville DDMG LDMGs: Bulloo LDMG Paroo LDMG Quilpie LDMG Barcoo LDMG Weather Warning IDQ21037 Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Severe Weather Warning for HEAVY RAINFALL For people in parts of Channel Country and Maranoa and Warrego Forecast Districts. Issued at 4:45 am Monday, 22 March 2021. Heavy rain to develop across the southwest on Monday. Weather Situation: An amplifying upper trough will combine with deep, tropical moisture to produce a significant rainband across southwest Queensland. As the cloudband thickens, areas of heavy rain will develop during the morning today. HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is forecast to develop across the Channel Country from this morning, becoming more likely in the afternoon and evening. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 50mm to 75mm are likely in areas with locally heavier falls possible in thunderstorms. A separate Flood Watch is current for southern parts of Western and Central Queensland. Locations which may be affected include Thargomindah, Nappa Merrie, Mt Howitt Station, Barringun, Orientos and Ballera. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it. * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11:00 am AEST Monday. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
