24.01.2022 Hi all. I’m now a Journalism Lecturer at UTS. A couple of months ago my students visited the Advocate and fell in love with it. (It’s also where I decided as a ...14yo that I wanted to be a journalist.) Their story about the newspaper’s suspension has just been published in The Guardian and on Central News. Both stories are best viewed on laptop of desktop. The Central News version has the owner’s response. Big thanks to Sharon Thompson and Jocelyn Rose for talking to us. https://www.theguardian.com//facing-the-loss-of-a-lifeline https://centralnews.com.au//exclusive-quirindis-beating-h/

15.01.2022 So good to see that we are making our way to the local news. Yes we have asked for ideas of what to paint on the town Silos, but did not expect to see this gre...at carton appear in the Quirindi Advocate by talented Cartoonist Marie Warby. If only it was that easy to get rid of the mouse problem. The story about the Silos, and the cartoon can be found in the Quirindi Advocate dated 12th May, 2021. Thank you Marie for adding a touch of cartoon to our silo’s, maybe you might have to come up with a different design for us to use. Thank you to the Quirindi Advocate for the support they give to all community projects within the Liverpool Plains, and for keeping the public informed about so many different events. With the disappearance of so many small town newspapers it is good to see that The Quirindi Advocate is still available and still a good source of local news. See more

09.01.2022 Residents of Werris Creek please take note:

05.01.2022 We are super excited to announce we will be back on shelves THIS Wednesday!!

01.01.2022 Liverpool Plains Shire Council advises that the boil water alert issued at Werris Creek on 14/04/2021, at 5pm, has been lifted and the water supply is now safe ...to drink. This action has been taken following ongoing consultation with NSW Health Hunter New England Local Health District and the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (Water). The boil water alert was issued due to fresh stream flows into Quipolly Dam and a subsequent equipment failure at the Werris Creek Water Treatment Plant that caused problems with water treatment, making drinking water in Werris Creek potentially unsafe. Liverpool Plains Shire Council has resolved the issue and water testing results over the past 5 days have indicated the water treatment process is under control and the water is now safe to drink. Liverpool Plains Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Doug Hawkins OAM, has thanked the Werris Creek community for their understanding and patience during this period.
