22.01.2022 I watched a news program last night and was left enraged NAB bank spokesman was talking about 6 months deferral on mortgage payments What he did say was true but the way it was said was very misleading. This spokesman explained that IF YOU ARE 6 MONTHS IN FRONT OF YOUR HOME LOAN REPAYMENTS then you can effectively redraw on the advanced payments for 6 months then revert to your normal loan repayments. He glossed over the 6 months in advance part so people who were not in fron...t of thier mortgage repayments I think will be missled into thinking that they will be going back to thier usual repayment amount after the deferred period. HE DID NOT POINT OUT that if YOU ARE NOT in front of you home loan repayments You can freeze or deffer your loan repayments for up to six months your interest will be compounded for that period and added to your loan at the end of the defferal period the bank will recalculate your loan repayments going forward. He very briefly mentioned that the interest would be compounded back to the loan. So If your cash flow was tight before the virus and you take this option you may put yourself into an even worse cash flow position afer the virus crisis is over. Please discuss this option with an independent broker accountant or advisor before you engage in the offer
