23.01.2022 A great sunset tonight makes for a great backdrop for the Quorn Silo Light Show

22.01.2022 Your NYE Fireworks & Movie at QSLS FAQ: all your questions about NYE at the Quorn Silo Light Show Answered. What fireworks? They are digital projected firewor...ks, not real ones, ha ha! They are NOT a live stream of some other fireworks, you won't see Sydney harbour bridge.... They are animated ones just for Quorn, its colourful fun just think of it as digital silo art. When are they? 9:30pm (after the animated stories) and midnight. They go for only six minutes, don't be late! The earlier one would be fun for kids if you plan to have them up then. The later one more for people who are there to watch the movie. Will they scare our pets? Ha ha, no, they are accompanied by music, not explosions. What about that movie? Yes there is a movie, for Quorn locals to enjoy seeing a film that has lots of shots of the area (including the railway station!) Can't guess? It's "Sunday too far away" starring Jack Thompson and it will be on after the 9:30pm fireworks. In 70s it was M rated (prob would be PG today) contains swearing and fighting, drinking smoking etc. Highly recommend it, good story and local scenes, lots of local people were extras! If you want to come and see it be aware that there is no extra sound speakers being added, so if you aren't by the silo shed, or parked in your car with FM radio, I would suggest that you BYO your chairs, portable FM radio, some mozzie spray and a torch. What's the FM? Tell everyone who asks!! 87.6 :) and you can pick it up from, up to about 500m away. Any further and you won't see the film anyway! :) Anything else to know? Yes, if you drive over and plan not to watch from your car, can you leave the parking spot for people car-watching. As it is we can't be sure that there would be enough car spots so I would really encourage you to bring chairs and leave car spaces for people who have mobility impairment. One last thing: the movie is free and the permission to play it has been organised by Flinders Flicks. (Thank you FF). We ask that you put a gold coin donation into the hat passed around, or follow the link that will be shared, to make a donation. Here is the link if you wish to make a donation now: https://paypal.me/pools/c/8vDgdtvfYT What's with the donation? We have been asked many times if it is possible for people to leave coins somewhere at the site. We believe this may encourage theft or vandalism so we have set up this option instead. What will happen to the donation? It will be given 50% to flinders flicks towards future movie nights, and 50% to Council's Silo project fund to help with future content / stories etc. The whole project is the brain child of many people and community members who have asked whether there could be a movie and fireworks, and the support has been given by Flinders Ranges Council and illuminart to enable the fireworks / film digital media to be added to the normal Silo program. The thing that will make it a success here and other places, will be the community to take care, be safe, follow covid safety rules and to look out for each other. What's this about other places? Yes there will simultaneously be digital fireworks in Wallaroo and Mount Gambier so if you have friends there, you can send them a happy NYE too :) Craig and I will be watching through the remote camera, sorry not there in person but us illuminart folk will be there with you in spirit and to make sure it all works.

17.01.2022 The Australian Event Awards and Symposium finalists for 2020 have been announced and illuminart is thrilled and humbled that TRAVELLING LIGHT is a National Fina...list! Our tour around Regional SA exactly 12 months ago was a wonderful (chilly) experience that brought our SA communities out to see South Australian moving image artwork and stories projected onto Silos and structures. The name on our finalist certificate says "illuminart and partners" to acknowledge that this is the work of ALL of the fantastic shires and councils and community groups and regional artists who helped to make this possible. We will share a blog post soon with everyone mentioned! Congratulations, we are so proud this project is listed among Australia's best events of 2019. http://travellinglight.illuminart.com.au #regionalarts #southaustralia #projectionart #eventawards #finalists #AusEvents See more
