25.01.2022 Our third-year earth sciences students recently had some hardcore, hands-on learning opportunities thanks to Glencore QLD Metals. QUT was fortunate enough to receive a large donation of drill core from a Mount Isa lead-zinc mine. 21.01.2022 Congratulations to QUT's Dr Laura Bray, winner of a 2020 Queensland Young Tall Poppy Science Award. Did you know that about 95% of cancer drugs fail in clinical trials? Dr Bray’s lab creates 3D mini tissues to test cancer drugs and study cancers as these would behave in the body rather than on a flat surface. Her research will lead to improved patient outcomes and reduced animal testing. 11.01.2022 We had so much fun yesterday at our IndigiSTEM day on campus. Year 9 students from The Murri School, Clayfield College and Marsden State High School took part in activities like a cyanotype workshop, where they used a chemical reaction and light to create art. A tour of our facilities and activities run by Indigenous student ambassadors gave the students a taste of uni life, and the possibilities of future study in #STEM. Thanks to the students who came along and made it a great day!
