05.05.2022 Getting close to completion with the Silky Oak hall table. A mixture of pics here including ,cutting the bevels on the underside of the of top using the "Fritz and Franz" jig on the table saw , the dividers and inner parts getting their first coat of Osmo and final fitting with a block plane. Next will be to cut the legs to final length and apply the rest of the finish ( Osmo PolyX semi matte ).

01.05.2022 More progress on the table, after a slow week with a sick kiddy. First dry assembly of new piece is always exciting. Next steps will be to make some curves in the dividers, bevel and finishing dimensioning the top.

24.04.2022 Made some progress on the hall table. I've finished shaping the legs, faired the curve on the aprons and cut the dividers to length. This Silky oak is already looking very nice, there is a close-up pic of the front apron.

22.03.2022 Here are some pics from the hall table build. Started by roughing out stock for the components and making an MDF template for leg profile. The template was traced onto the leg stock and 2 cuts made on each one at the bandsaw, taping the waste back on for support in between the cuts. Next will be to refine and smooth the radius tapered profile of this leg design.

07.03.2022 So I'm going to be posting some step by step pics from my current project. The piece will be a larger slightly more curvy adaptation from this small floating-top side table I made a while ago ( Vic Ash ). Using mostly Silky Oak for the new one, will be a full size hall table 1400mm long.

27.02.2022 Hi Thought I'd kick off this page with a few pics of a shaker style side table from NG Rosewood I made recently. It features a hand-cut dovetailed draw, a wide bevel on the underside giving lightness to the top and tapering legs.
