15.01.2022 RAAFA is proud to sponsor Becoming Colleen, a new Australian documentary about a trans-woman transitioning at 82. It makes an important contribution to broadening our understanding of what is gender?, as well as being a movingly told tale of a life lived both well and lovingly, despite the odds. The WA Premiere of Becoming Colleen will be screened at the Alexander State Library Theatre, on Thursday 14 March 2019 - 5.30 pm for light refreshments and 6 pm start. The film will... be followed by Q&A with a panel of trans elders, giving us a unique chance to hear trans perspectives on issues raised in the film. This special WA Premiere screening is being organised by GRAI (GLBTI Rights in Ageing Inc) and Transfolk of WA. GRAI Chair, June Lowe, said: We all deserve to be respected and celebrated for who we are. Through promoting understanding and empathy, Becoming Colleen will certainly be influential in helping this become a reality for trans people. " We are delighted to have RAAFAs partnership in facilitating this screening, giving opportunities to open hearts and minds in the wider community as well as reassurance for sexuality- and gender-diverse elders, their families and loved ones. https://vimeo.com/229551398
