25.01.2022 Sharing the road is easier when you can be seen. This is just as important during daylight hours as it is at night. Be Seen. Be Safe.

24.01.2022 What do you call a cow with no legs? Ground beef If you find that amoooosing, wait until 2000 head of cattle begin their journey through the Central Highlands... next week! Over the next few months, drovers will walk the large mob south along the region’s primary stock route from Clermont to Rolleston. If you encounter the herd, please SLOW DOWN and BE PATIENT. They actually have right of way for up to 15 minutes More https://bit.ly/2QPMEqY See more

23.01.2022 Providing an accurate destination if you are in the unfortunate position of having to make an emergency call will assist emergency workers getting to the scene - the free Emergency Plus app can provide co-ordinates of your location and assist during an emergency. Pressing and holding location in I-maps will also provide approximate co-ordinates. Every second helps.

23.01.2022 We are heading into Christmas Party Territory... who is your lift legend? Your #LiftLegend is anyone below the legal BAC limit who can get you home safely after you’ve been drinking. They might be your mum or dad, your husband, wife, boyfriend, or girlfriend. They might be your best mate, a bus driver or taxi driver or even a work mate. But hey, maybe you can be a #LiftLegend too. So don’t drink & drive, plan your #LiftLegend instead.

22.01.2022 Have you taken the pledge for National Road Safety Week?

22.01.2022 Road Rage is a significant problem. We seem to be less and less tolerant and more self-centred as we drive around and use the road. Courtesy isn't the same as it once was or maybe its being replaced by Road Rage. This might be a good seminar for business owners to take a look at. Driving to and from and for work purposes are often the highest risk activities for employees. Having an understanding of how road rage develops might empower your business to put controls in place. ... RAAG is happy to be part of the National Road Partnership Program. 22.01.2022 Check out Graeme's recent interview on 4MK!

22.01.2022 RAAG'S Chair and Graeme, life member, travelled to Moranbah to participate in the QPS Road Safety Working Group. What a geat bunch of interested people. Yes interested. All interested in road safety. Members of all of the Emergency services and a number of key and senior people from mining and transport companies attended and openly communicated their road safety concerns and possible solutions . The all too familiar speed, fatigue, distractions , behaviour and alcohol fac...tored heavily in the talks. The most important thing is the group had a resolution to move forward with some actions. It is so good to see industry and the community partnering in different ways to achieve positive road safety outcomes for all road users.. Brett Hoskin Chair RAAG note. Below is a shade shelter. Wouldnt it be fantastic if a couple of walls was included in the design to make it an ALL WEATHER SHELTER? If it was an ALL WEATHER SHELTER, resting road users could get out of the morning and afternoon sun, hot or cold winds ,depending on the season, and any rain that may fall.. Vote #allweathersheltersinoz #raagmackay #raagmky #roadsafety

20.01.2022 This short video really reinforces the message. BE SEEN, BE SAFE!

19.01.2022 Did you know adding a reflective collar or lead is an awesome way to increase your visibility to road users when taking your best mate for a walk! #wov21#workoutvisibly

19.01.2022 RAAG couldn't do what we do, without the support of businesses such as Mastermyne.

19.01.2022 RAAG'S Chair, Brett, and Graeme, life member, travelled to Moranbah to participate in the QPS Road Safety Working Group. After the meeting Graeme and Brett stopped in on a few of the rest areas on the Peak Downs Highway. We need more all weather shelters. Below is a shade shelter. Wouldnt it be fantastic if a couple of walls was included in the design to make it an ALL WEATHER SHELTER?... 17.01.2022 Rest areas are a place where you can stop and rest, making your journey safer and more enjoyable. There are 3 different rest areas available to help you manage your fatigue: motorist rest areasfor general and recreational vehicles (including caravans and motorhomes) only... heavy vehicle rest areasexclusively for heavy vehicles only combined motorist and heavy vehicle rest areaswhere there are designated areas for trucks, and general and recreational vehicles. General and recreational vehicles can stop at a rest area for up to 20 hours unless signed otherwise, but they are not camping sites or an accommodation option. It is important motorists use rest areas designated for the type of vehicle they are driving. Check with the authority responsible for the relevant rest area for more information. Truck drivers need to be able to rest in the heavy vehicle rest areas they should not be used by other motorists, or to stop and camp. Fines may apply if you are not driving a commercial or heavy vehicle and you are found using a heavy vehicle rest area. These fines are in place to make sure truck drivers get to take their legislated rest breaks when using Queensland roads.

17.01.2022 There are just over 450 rest areas to use on Queensland roads, all year round to help you manage your fatigue and not drive when tired. Rest areas are a place where you can stop and rest, making your journey safer and more enjoyable. RAAG did a lot of work to identify Rest Areas> Check it all out on our webpage. www.raag.com.au

14.01.2022 As drivers, have a responsibility to themselves to get to their destination safely. Rules are rules but we know sometimes people make mistakes. There could be more to this story than what is seen here but what could have been done differently to avoid this potentially life threatening crash. Best viewed with the sound on. Warning. Expletives present.

14.01.2022 Road Safety Week is going digital, show your support and join in the fun.

13.01.2022 Thank you to everyone that attended our monthly general meeting, held last week at the Resource Centre of Excellence. We we fortunate enough to be given a quick tour of the centre, (including the simulated underground mine) at the completion of our meeting. It's a very impressive venue, and we at RAAG are very grateful for the ongoing support of RIN (Resource Industry Network). We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting on Thursday, 8 October!

12.01.2022 Please share far and wide, we have seen amazing innovation, tail lights on hair bands, was a good one last week, if you would like a free reflective wrist band or two, they are available at 4MK office desk Sydney Street.

12.01.2022 RAAG has delivered fatigue education to more than 20000 people in the Bown Basin over the years. Nearly 66% of all fatal crashes occur on Rural Roads. Fatigue will be a major factor. When you’re tired you don’t function well. In fact being awake for 17 hours is the same as being over the legal driving limit. And if you get behind the wheel you might fall asleep and never wake up. If you crash, you’ll hit at speed because you can’t brake when you’re asleep. So plan to rest at ...least 15 minutes every 2 hours. Avoid driving when you’re supposed to be asleep. Avoid long drives after work. Avoid driving for longer than 10 hours in one day. Caffeine is only a temporary solution. Turning up the radio won’t help for long, neither will winding down the window. The only fix for being tired is sleep so rest before you hit the road. https://youtu.be/LoePpGDYHbQ See more

10.01.2022 Some great tips here for sharing the road...

07.01.2022 Share the road tips for travelling caravaners Check out the latest video tips that every caravan or RV driver should watch before hitting the road this winter and pass them on to your mates. The Whiteline Television videos, fronted by well-known truckie and safety advocate Rod Hannifey and entertainer Amelia Ryan, cover topics such as sharing truck stops and roadhouses or overtaking on a highway. The NHVR is calling on any driver who knows someone with a caravan to ‘Tell a ma...te’ to watch these videos. They feature some of Australia’s finest outback scenery, but Rod and Amelia’s tips are vitally important whether you are on an open highway, stopping for a break or setting up for the night. Work hours Works will be carried out between 6.00pm and 6.00am, Friday, 28 August 2020 The construction area and temporary road closure will remain in place overnight during the works, with some materials and equipment stored within the construction footprint. What to expect As a result of these works, you can expect: An increase in construction workers and vehicles in the area Delivery of plant and equipment to the work area The use of lighting towers, hand tools, small mobile cranes (frannas), excavators Temporary delays due to the road excavation. Please plan your journey and allow additional time if travelling through the area A potential increase in noise and dust. We are committed to reducing these impacts as much as possible. In the event of wet weather or unforeseen circumstances, these activities may be extended. Motorists are encouraged to drive with caution and obey all signage. Transport operators are reminded to check the TMR Conditions of Operation Database before each trip as details may change. As always, the safety of road users is our priority. The changed traffic conditions at roadworks sites, such as reduced speed limits and lane closures are essential for the safety of both road workers and motorists. The project aims to provide up to date information to all stakeholders to minimise the disruption on the roads, and to ensure traffic flow is maintained during peak times, special events and unplanned incidents.
