20.01.2022 National Child Protection week 3-6 September 2020 More than 30,000 children are abused or neglected every year in Australia.... National Child Protection Week is held each September to promote messages of child abuse prevention and child protection. The AFP works in partnership with the National Association for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN) and child protection advocacy groups. Each year during National Child Protection Week, the AFP participates in White Balloon Day. Hosted by Bravehearts, White Balloon Day was established to raise awareness about child sexual assault in Australia and help empower survivors to break their silence. Using the symbol of a white balloon, the day has worked to raise public awareness of all forms of child abuse and neglect, and to support victims of such exploitation.
