24.01.2022 The Rabbinical Council of Victoria joins worldwide Jewry in mourning the passing of Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks of blessed memory, Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth from 1991 to 2013. Rabbi Lord Sacks was a shining example for world Jewry and beyond. He taught Torah in a way that was relatable to the modern world. He addressed some of the complex ethical and moral issues of our time with empathy and respect and demonstrated the true qualities ...of leadership. He was respected by people of all faiths and none, for his reason, compassion and moral clarity. His accomplishments are numerous, authoring many books which included commentary on the Siddur. His weekly articles and many Shiurim will continue to inspire for generations to come. May his memory always be for blessing and may his soul be bound in the bond of eternal life. With warm and sincere wishes of comfort and condolences to his dear family.

It was a big honour to have the Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth, Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis, join them to share words of Chizuk, encouragement and support.
