12.01.2022 Raceday planning commences Deepwater Jockey Club held the Annual General Meeting on the 8th September. The 2020 Committee was elected and planning commenced for the 23rd January Race Day. The impact of Covid-19 means 2021 race day may be different than our traditional race day but the club promises patrons exciting racing and great country hospitality. At the AGM Doug Stevenson was returned as President, John Newsome as Vice President, Patrons is Don Macansh. Committee Me...mbers are Ian Fenwick, Neil Jarvis, Patrick Herde, Robyn Kiehne, Jen Lanz, Joanne Green, Darren Parker, Daniel Hollingworth, Butch Hollingworth, Robert Wheatley and Cath Wheatley. After 11 years of dedicated service Tricia Stack has stepped down from the role of Secretary/Treasurer/CEO. Tricia has done a magnificent job and has been integral to Deepwaters success. Tricia’s passion for the club remains strong and she will continue in the position of Public Officer. We wish Phillip a’Beckett the best in his interstate move, Phillip served as Vice President and worked tirelessly for the club for many years. Karen Fontaine becomes Secretary/Treasurer. The 2020 Committee jumped straight into race day planning. While the club is hopeful Covid restrictions may ease by 23rd January 2021 our planning is also taking into account the current restrictions which limits crowd size to 500 including staff and race day participants. Implementation of a Covid Plan increases the club workload considerably but the club is doing all we can to deliver a race day that supports Patrons, Sponsors, Vendors and Racing Participants. The Deepwater Race Day is an important event for the Local Community and the New England area. Residents of the New England are very understanding of the difficulties faced by event organisers and the club appreciates the ongoing community support. Take care, stay safe and we hope to see you on race day. To keep up to date follow us on here on Facebook Deepwater Jockey Club. For inquiries email [email protected]

10.01.2022 Next week we will go ahead with our AGM with 10 of the committee - Thank you to Deepwater Brewery for hosting this for us. We will welcome a new Secretary/Treasurer. Discussions on the 2021 race day will be had then.

08.01.2022 Important update: We are saddened to announce that we are unable to go ahead with our planned race day on the 23rd January 2021. The Deepwater Jockey Club Committee have worked extremely hard for many months but unfortunately have exhausted all options to move forward with our race day. Due to Covid Protocols and our current infrastructure we are unable to guarantee a Covid Safe Event for all Patrons and Racing Participants and we are left with no option but to cancel 2021. ... To our dedicated Sponsors, Volunteers, Racing Participants, local business supporters and loyal Racegoers we thank you for your support and understanding. In typical country spirit the Deepwater Jockey Club will be turning this negative into a positive by working hard on Club improvements throughout the year. We look forward to welcoming you all back to the track and creating more great memories like the ones below. We hope you and your family enjoy a happy and safe festive season. We hope to be back in 2022 bigger and better than ever! Thank you, President - Doug Stevenson and the Deepwater Jockey Club Committee Drone photo by Daniel Hayden

06.01.2022 While our race meeting won't be going ahead there is still plenty of great racing on in the New England with the Glen Innes Services Club Glen Innes Cup Day on Saturday 9th January 2021. A great opportunity to catch up with friends and enjoy country racing at it's best. Click the link, like their facebook page and keep up to date with race day information

05.01.2022 2020 will go down as a 'different' year for a lot of reasons. We started the year with a Phantom Race day (a new thing for us here) and now plan to hold our AGM at the Deepwater Brewery (under COVID-19 restrictions) on 8th September. A new Secretary/Treasurer will be installed at this meeting - after 11 years for outgoing Secretary and 9 years for outgoing Treasurer.

04.01.2022 For when Qeenslanders can travel to the races - this is what they have been doing to the Bolivia roadway.

04.01.2022 The preparations for the Polo grounds can be clearly seen

02.01.2022 2021 date set by Racing NSW is 23rd January not 16th as advertised previously.
