20.01.2022 SonikRacer headed to Midwest Kart Club for the 2020 WA Karting Championships over the weekend. A strong field of 21 karts lined up in Cadet 12. SonikRacer’s Ashton Sprague started promising with P6 in timed practice with a 38.474, only 0.006 sec off P3. (Yes it was that close!)... The weekend took a turn for the worse with some issues in qualifying.. resulting in P10. Heat 1.. Turn 1 contact led to Ashton being stranded on the back of another kart. He untangled himself and restarted but was deemed to have touched the ground with his foot and DQ’d. Heat 2.. starting last from P21, Ashton made his way forward in the early laps but was punted from behind going into a turn resulting in a DNF. Heat 3.. again having to start last from P21, Ashton drove a strong race getting up to P9 when a full course caution came out. With the field condensed for a restart, a move for P8 with 2 laps to go unfortunately led a spin allowing most of remaining the field back past... P18 FINAL.. With a DQ, DNF, P18 results, Ashton still had a desire to finish in the Top 10. But this required a quality drive over 28 laps. Setting some fast and consistent lap times, he moved his way making some great passes. He closed out his WA Championships campaign in P10, only 0.23 tenths behind ninth. It was a great learning experience for the SonikRacer... who demonstrated a never-give-up will to achieve and have fun. Our true SonikRacer ethos. 04.01.2022 Today we were in Geraldton for some testing and racing prior to Midwest Kart Club ‘s hosting of the WA State Championships in 3 weeks. Finished off the day with Ashton Sprague in P1 and the fastest lap in the final. Thanks IMPORTANT - BAD WEATHER...: If conditions do not make coaching sessions possible, a decision to postpone/or cancel a session will be made no later than 1 hour prior its scheduled start time and communicated on this post.
