25.01.2022 Years ago I attended a masterclass on Self-Compassion with Dr Kristen Neff and what it really highlighted to me is how doing the practice of self-compassion can help you to be simultaneously more courageous to be yourself (because you're less self-critical) and better equipped to be relaxed with others (because you realise we're all worried out not being good enough, not too far beneath the surface). These are themes that really came through in Kristen's presentation and personal presence and it was such a great experience to meet her and learn from a master in the field.

22.01.2022 I'd love to share a new book with you. This is particularly relevant for women in leadership, who all too often have been socialised to steer clear of speaking up and stepping up to take courageous action. I can’t wait to read this book and strongly suggest you check it out too! Dr Kristen Neff has been a world leading researcher in the field of self-compassion for many years. In her most recent work, she highlights the importance of what she now terms as fierce self-co...mpassion which highlights that while self-compassion can be about being kind to ourselves, it can also be about taking courageous action in the world. You can watch Kristin's short video about Fierce Compassion and order the book from her website here: https://self-compassion.org/fierce-self-compassion/ (Fierce Self Compassion: How women can harness kindness to speak up, claim their power and thrive. by Kristin Neff)

19.01.2022 Did you know these 6 facts about self-compassionate people? Research shows that self-compassionate people are: More likely to engage in perspective taking, rather than just focusing on their own distress. Better able to cope with tough situations including: divorce, trauma, or chronic pain.... Better able to be caring and supportive in romantic relationships & are more compassionate and forgiving towards others. More engaged with healthier behaviours, like exercising, eating well & drinking less. Less afraid of failure & are more likely to persist and stay motivated, even after failing. Able to take greater personal responsibility for their actions & are more likely to apologise if they’ve offended someone. Does that make you want to learn more about self-compassion and start practicing it yourself? If so, I invite you to listen to this Self-Compassion practice I recorded, which begins with a mini-class about the topic: http://insig.ht/gm_91832 If you'd like to know more about developing self-compassion in yourself or in your team, feel free to reach out to me about team training or one-on-one executive coaching. -- Reference: Neff, K. & Germer, C. 07.01.2022 Just wrapped up an early morning talk with Hedland Well Women's Centre on Mindfulness in Leadership. I enjoyed meeting so many women ready to utilise evidence-based mindfulness to build their career and become better leaders in the workplace. If you missed out and would love to have me do this same talk in your workplace, get in touch and we can chat more about it. Visit my website (rachelgrace.com.au) to learn more about the services I offer.

04.01.2022 Do you want to lead positive change in the workplace? Mindfulness is a great place to start, in fact, it's fundamental to individual behaviour change and workplace culture change. If you're someone who really doesn't believe in the benefits of mindfulness meditation, I recommend the book 'The Science of Meditation: How to Change Your Brain, Mind and Body' by Daniel Goleman and Richard Davidson. It provides a clear insight into what it is exactly, and how we can apply it t...o every aspect of our lives, including work. I've found it to be incredibly useful in cutting through the hippy, fluffy stuff, and I think you will too. If you don't feel like you have the time to read an entire book on mindfulness, I understand! If you are in Port Hedland, I can introduce you to the why, what and how of mindfulness relatively quickly so you can identify if it is for you! For women, you can register for my talk 'Mindfulness for Leaders', which is on next Tuesday 15 June at Wanangkura Stadium, 7 - 8:30am. We'll cover the science in a really easy-to-digest way as you enjoy the breakfast, tea, or coffee included in this great event. We'll be kicking off at 7am sharp and I'd love to see you there.
