The love affair with rose gold has waned, chrome is still a little passé, but brass has endured seasonal trends. Its warmth and versatility remains a favourite among lighting, furniture and accessory product designers alike.

23.01.2022 Quality Bed Linen. I'm sure you've all read about the percentage of life we spend in our beds! Beautiful quality sheets are essential. Buy the best you can afford. They look great, last longer and most importantly, feel gorgeous. 1000 thread count minimum, or if budget allows, pure linen. Divine!

They allow you to control your lighting from day to night, for various events, and depending on your mood. They can be installed to your existing fitting, just make sure you buy the dimmable bulbs.

17.01.2022 In the world of interior design, a vignette is a small, pleasing picture formed by grouping several objects. Whether on a console, coffee table or a mantelpiece, a table vignette can create a powerful element of surprise in the home. Think texture, height and colour. Gather some of your favourite objects and try different ways of grouping them. You can use books, plants, vases, frames, trays, candles, the list is endless. And it's fun!

15.01.2022 I plan to start 2018 with a bit of decluttering. I think we are all surprised when we open a full cupboard and are not sure of it's contents! There are many sites on the internet that can help with tips and advice if you need inspiration. A room without clutter feels calm, serene, a place you want to be in. A tip I read was to give something away everyday. To charity, a neighbour .....

15.01.2022 All white kitchens are very popular at the moment. I find they can look a bit sterile and cold though. Bright artwork, timber accessories, potted plants and mini herb gardens help relieve sterility and make a sleek kitchen feel more like home.

14.01.2022 I love timber furniture. Especially if it has a lovely grain and colour. Recycled timber pieces are very popular now as some timber is becoming rare and aged pieces have a real glow about them. To keep your timber furniture looking it's best, you need to give it a polish at least once a month. Dust just makes your piece look dull. A few good polish products can be found in the supermarket, you can go online and make your own, or if you go to a bespoke furniture maker (many in the South West) they often sell lovely waxy timber polishes made with oils that smell divine! Happy polishing

08.01.2022 Velvet. Traditionally, velvet would have been combined with other rich and opulent finishes. For a modern spin, let it shine out by combining it with rough, raw brickwork or furniture with fine-lined geometric forms. Embrace the chameleon-like quality of this fabric. Add a velvet surface or two to gain a little extra luxury.

06.01.2022 Visualising. I find that a huge obstacle is my clients inability to visualise the end result. I have computer programs that can help you see the finished product. These images were enough to help my client go on and complete her Bathroom and Laundry renovations!

03.01.2022 I created some interior colour options for a client last week, and came across this colour combination that I just love at the moment. This is a split complementary colour scheme. Hard to mess up, and could be used just about anywhere.

02.01.2022 To chop or not to chop? I like to chop. But you can only chop if your inserts are feather. They look softer and more inviting. If you have a favorite cushion but it's gone all flat and compact, throw away the poly insert and replace with a feather one! So much softer and can be fluffed up again. Many sizes available to buy online or Spotlight.
