23.01.2022 Does anyone else plan their week around when they’re washing their hair? I’ve just spent the last 3-days planning my entire year (no jokes). While I like to be spontaneous, I also need to plot key dates on my calendar so I can get sh!t done.... I like being able to look at my year and know when I’m going on holiday, launching new products, creating content and recording the podcast. Are you a make-things-up-as-you-go type of person? Or a plan my-life-down-to-when-I’m-washing-my-hair type of person?
22.01.2022 I have decided to step down from my role as co-host on the i made a thing podcast. I have loved building this business from the ground up and watching the community grow. But after some considered reflection, I realised that it would be better for my community and me if I focused my energy on my business and creative pursuits. ... I have so many ideas, projects and passions I want to explore. And as much as I may try, I can't do everything. You've heard me say this before, but I will repeat it: Running a business is a marathon, not a sprint. Sometimes the best thing you can do is let go of what is no longer serving you, so can focus on everything else that is. I know Sophia is going to keep the podcast mission alive and continue helping the community find their way in business. Thanks for all your love and support of the pod. It's meant a lot to me. P.S. stay tuned as I’m working on some cool projects behind the scenes. See more

19.01.2022 This is what creative freedom looks like to me. I took this selfie because I wanted to capture this moment. I’m not doing anything particularly special, just aimless wandering down the beach. ... But at that moment I decided to put aside one whole week in Feb to work on my memoir. I’m able to do this because before I logged off on Friday, I asked if any of you wanted to know more about my mini 1:1 coaching package Instant Clarity. The decision to share it on stories popped into my head, and I went with it. There was no strategy behind it. When I woke up in the morning, 11 of you had said you were interested, and by lunchtime 4 of you had already booked in a session. This additional income has allowed me to take time away from my biz and devote my creativity and energy solely on my writing project. And I want this creative freedom for you too. I know you want to achieve more in life than running a successful business because you tell me about your goals and passions in our DM chats every day. If you’re dreaming of the day when you can write your memoir, go on holiday or lazily read a book in the sun, send me a DM. I want to help you start taking actionable steps towards your creative freedom today. See more
16.01.2022 But I’m not funny, sassy or cool It’s hard to show up just as you are on the interwebs when everyone is telling you that you need to BE an expert, thought leader, and guru to be successful. I’m an extrovert, marketing coach and international speaker and even I get heart palpitations and sweaty palms when a business owner I admire tells me I need to get on IGTV and sell OR drop truth bombs on the daily ... It’s in these moments that I find myself thinking things like: I don’t want to be another person pushing themselves on people. I struggle with all these rules. I just want to feel real and authentic. I’m not funny, sassy or cool like other business owners. Have you ever felt this way too? For a long time, I told myself that I didn’t need to show my face, write sales emails, invite people to DM me and have a content marketing strategy because people would see my value and hire me. And in some ways that were true. I still filled my client roster and was referred 90% of my work. But my business quickly stopped growing after a few years. It was then I realised that telling myself I wasn’t funny, sassy or cool enough was stopping me from becoming the leader I was meant to be. Everything changed when I made time to get clear on what I wanted to share, learned what content resonated with MY dream clients, embraced MY leadership style and made a content game plan that was right for MY business. You can’t avoid having a content marketing strategy if you want to have a successful business, BUT that doesn’t mean you can’t adapt the strategy, so it works for you, not against you. Whether your biggest struggle right now is showing up, knowing what content your clients are craving, embracing your leadership style, or all three, my Create Content with Confidence eCourse can help you. Are you ready to say YES to posting consistently, YES to believing that social selling works, and YES to becoming the leader you were born to be? 14.01.2022 Why you don’t think social selling will work for you, but it totally will! If you’re like most small biz owners I meet, you’ve probably heard of the give, give, give, sell strategy to selling your services and products. If you’ve implemented this strategy in your business and then been left wondering why people are unsubscribing from your email list in droves or downloading all your freebies but never purchasing from you, you’re not alone.... It’s one of the oldest content marketing sayings that I wish would just die already. Here’s why it doesn’t work It confuses what content marketing is. We should be selling every day, every time we share content. Does this mean that we need to be pitching our service or product in every post? No. Whether you want to admit it or not, even when you share a picture of you sipping a coffee in bed at 10 am you’re selling your lifestyle, values and approach to business. And this is fine; it’s what we should be doing as business owners. Where I see business owners go wrong is they share great free content but it doesn’t solve the problem their dream clients are having right now doesn’t position them as a leader capable of getting results in their community doesn’t provide insight into who they are and why their business exists So, when they get to the big sell, their community is either not interested because they aren’t the right target market can’t remember who the business owner is OR don’t have a personal connection with the brand This is why your content isn’t getting the attention, clients and cash you want. But I promise you that with a little time, effort and focus you CAN turn your content marketing around and show up in your business in a way that feels good to you. Does this sound like what you need? If so, it’s time to enrol in Create Content with Confidence and get started today:https://rachelkurzyp.com.au//create-content-with-confiden/ You will go from feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, unfocused and like you’re failing at this whole content marketing thing to a focused, confident, respected and financially secure business owner because you finally have a content marketing strategy you’ll actually use.
14.01.2022 Why do some brands always sound so put together? I always get asked why some brands’ content gets widely shared while others get ignored. And why some business owners become go-to experts in their niche while others never become known outside of their network. The answer is branding. The brands and leaders we know and love have spent time crafting their key messages and creating a brand personality. Even small businesses need to have key messages. ... So, what do I even mean by key messages? They are the 5-7 pieces of information you want your dream clients to hear, understand and remember. Think of them as bite-sized 1-2-line summaries that share who you are, what you do, how you’re different, and how you help your dream clients. Key messages help you to prioritise and define what information is important. They ensure you’re saying the same things over and over because people need to hear our messages 20-40 times before they buy. Key messages form the foundation of your branding and content marketing efforts and when they’re done right, not only do they help you attract and sell to your dream clients, they will help you feel good about showing up because you’ll be able to talk about your business in a way that reflects your values, language and style. Here are a few of my key messages. I embrace a multi-passionate approach to my career and life. I’m a copywriter, marketing coach, speaker and teacher, and I’ve been blending who I am with what I do for over 14 years. My job is to help you make a game plan, build a signature service, and create content with confidence, so you can finally work with dreamy clients and run a business that supports your lifestyle. I’ve helped over 3,000 people, and I can help you too. You don’t need to find your dream clients. When you do content marketing correctly, your dream clients will come to you. Creating your key messages doesn't have to be a complicated and lengthy process either. I break down the process in three simple steps (brainstorm, create and test) in week 3 of Create Content with Confidence. Want to know if the course is right for you? Send me a DM for and lets chat

11.01.2022 This is my "can I take a nap now face. Is it just me or was this a stupidly massive year? I’ve enjoyed some life-changing wins like:... Filling my new coaching program Creating my first eCourse Launching the i made a thing podcast Landing my first international speaking gig Being published in a book But I’ve also experienced some major lows around my health behind-the-scenes. I started off the year with pneumonia (the joys of teaching uni students), and I didn’t give myself time to recover. I repeat, I DIDN’T put my health first, and this means that I spent the entire year battling health issues. Why am I telling you this? Because nearly every woman I meet is putting themselves last. They don’t prioritise their mental + physical health on the daily. They don’t set and maintain their boundaries with clients. They let their perfectionist tendencies and negative self-talk lead their decision making. So I’m here to remind you (and myself) that building a business is a marathon, not a sprint. Next year is my 8th year in business, and I refuse to spend my year sniffling and downing coffees. Who’s with me? I’m taking the next 2 weeks off to nap, read and wiggle my toes in the grass. It’s exactly what the doctor ordered. See more
10.01.2022 What’s the point? Everyone I’ve spoken to on Insta the last week has said they’re questioning why they’re in business. And I think this makes sense when everything we cherish, know and believe in is literally going up in flames.... I know we’re all working hard to raise awareness, are supporting our communities and have donated as much as we can. But if you still feeling powerless, like I am, remember that there is power in owning a business. And we can use that power to create a world we want to live in. So, as you reflect over the coming weeks and pull together your plan for 2020, ask yourself questions like: How can my business be a part of the solution? How can my business help those affected? How can my business be more sustainable? How can my business uphold ethical practices? Why did I start my business? What do I want to achieve? What causes does my business stand for? Who are the people I help and how? What is my vision for the world, and how can my business help make this vision a reality? We might not be able to control everything, BUT we can control our thoughts, intentions and actions.

08.01.2022 The next time a client asks how old you are, do this. Even though I was communications manager, I'd still get asked to fill up the water jug when I was setting up for the meeting I was running. I would joke and smile when people assumed my age and therefore, my experience and competency.... But I'd be fuming inside. That's why when I left my 9-5 job five years ago, I decided to call people out for their ageist comments Now when I'm asked how old I am, I don't answer, and instead ask them their age and wait patiently for their reply. 80% of the time the convo ends with an apology. And even if it doesn't, I never receive an age-based question from them again. Ageism against millennials is a thing. If you’ve experienced it, know you’re not alone. In the latest ep of the i made a thing podcast, Sophia and I talk about what it’s like to be a young businesswoman.
