25.01.2022 Repeat customers! I am so, so fortunate that many of my clients have bought paintings from me more than once ... and some have even bought 3 or more ! Such an amazing endorsement and complement. Very touched and grateful to them . One of these clients came to me in 2020 to commission a very long painting for her kitchen / dining wall. It was so wonderful working with her and her family to create a 200cm x 60cm painting. The previous piece she bought was the jumping off p...oint as it sat on the other side of the wall in the lounge room. I made some small example paintings for this client as she wasn't quite sure what direction she wanted to take. This certainly made it easier to visualise what this large painting would look like and which parts she wanted to included. I arranged several viewings of the painting along the way to make sure I was on the right track and it was how my client has envisioned. The result was spectacular and I have one very happy client . it looks stunning on her textured, black timber wall too! 21.01.2022 18 of my paintings went into a house in Bardon in October 2020 as part of its styling when going on the market to sell. I know, so many! I don't normally lease my work for styling but it was such a wonderful opportunity to see my work all together AND in such a beautiful renovated home. Wow! This house sold under the hammer and several of my paintings did too! It was also a great opportunity to get my work photographed in a home so you can easily visualise them.... 19.01.2022 I saw this quote and it truly resonated with me! I guess being an artist that makes sense. There were many years after I finished my Vis Art degree, when we moved to the UK, that I didn't make art . It was hard. I had to 'work to pay the rent' as they say and occasionally I'd get my little sketch book out and draw a little interior or something. Considering I was used to making huge drawings and etchings it was a big adjustment! It wasn't until we were firmly esta...blished back in Australia 7 years later that I started drawing again ... first with my kids, a spark started. Not quite a breath. And then one day I was brave, I moved some paint around and I can remember literally taking the biggest breath like I had been holding my breath all those years ... I love working on paper and 2020 really reignited this for me and saw me doing LOTS of painting on paper ... of all sizes! 12.01.2022 The always timeless landscape. I've had a wonderful time diving back into Works on Paper again. It was my way back in after being in lock-down this year and not being in the studio for 7 weeks. I felt clunky and stiff and all out of sorts. I often work on paper with preliminary sketches and paintings but they are not always totally 'finished' . By then I've moved on and I'm working on canvas. #tooimpatient... I still plan to paint this onto a canvas maybe with a slightly different composition but I've loved creating these paper works just on their own steam. i think some of them might surprise you. 08.01.2022 We all know how I love the water and I certainly continues to celebrate this in my new collection. Not that I go to the beach very often and I by no means am I a beach dude (!). I just love being in the ocean. It's the closest thing around to a reset from every day 'stuff'. I don't know if you know this about me but my husband and I used to live in the UK and were there for 7 years. Amazing time! We travelled as much as we could and loved it. I've lost count o...f the number of times we'e been to Paris. I'm not telling you this to boast, it was a great weekender being so close. These weekends away were the perfect reset and we found being away from our little flat and routine was a perfect reset. It was as though having that distance from our everyday lives made it clear what we needed to do/see or make happen in our lives. Every time! I loved it. It's as though we were (literally) too close to everything to make sense of it. I really miss these weekend trips and travel since we've been back in Australia. 08.01.2022 This is a little painting I made for a client who commissioned a painting inspired by Girraween National Park. We have both camped there several times and it holds a special place in both our hearts. Many a good time has been had by the adults and especially our children. It's like one giant playdate for them! So many adventures, rock climbing, bush walks and their ultimate favourite thing... making forts! I just love this painting and even though the my client's final p...ainting was a little bit different to this, I'd love to get this on canvas one day. All the pinks and peachy pinks !! 01.01.2022 All in the details ! Here's some details from 'Inspired'. Inspiredis part of myQuiet Reflectionseries. This piece is part of a little series of 5 paintings. I continued to explore different techniques while painting different landscapes I love. One of the consistent things in each of these paintings was the colour Payne’s Grey, my new favourite colour. I have always used it and loved it but this year it went to a whole new level!... Inspired was literally about being inspired to paint and to paint this particular landscape. Experimenting with painting techniques and creating some of my own along the way. It is not only fun but also inspires me to paint and is so important to my ongoing practice as an artist. Fun, exploration, experimentation! Experimenting is what keeps it so interesting and exciting. It’s how art evolves. So in this piece, I wanted strong, watery, colourful brushstrokes to give this landscape movement, texture and depth. I started to move on from my purely blue landscape paintings and add colour.
