25.01.2022 AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NICKELS MUM IS ALSO BROUGHT INTO RKR.. It didnt take long for this girls beautiful ginger boy Nickel to find his forever home and we at RKR are hoping it will be the same for his beautiful Mum Mikell... Named Mikell for Rescue this gorgeous girl is very loving and also smoochy to people .. she however is taking a few days to get used to the other cats.. Mikell was the mum cat abandoned with her elder sibling Nickel and her 3 younger kittens who were taken by a Port Pirie resident who decided not to take the mum as well.. and was left up to the neighbours to feed and try and rehome... If you know of anyone needing a companion kitty Mikell would be perfect to adopt... with her coat of many colours and her spotted feet her colouring and markings would be rare to have another cat the same .. We will be giving her time just to make sure she isnt in kitten before vetting THANKYOU to neighbours Lydia and daughter Gypsy for looking after both Mikell and Nickel while waiting to fit them into Rescue
23.01.2022 MICAH IS ON ADOPTION HOLD LITTLE MICAH JOINS RKR THANKYOU to Bec who rescued this little boy after being found on his own in Port Pirie parklands... How cute is this little boy but what was he doing their at the tender age of 5 weeks... ... Micah is doing well with Foster mum Stacey and family after a few little hiccups and a week of medication after Leanne made a trip to Pirie to pickup and checkout our kits .. So lucky to be working with such caring vet staff Micah is a blue /white tabby and just check out that face See more

23.01.2022 KITTENS COMING SOON
23.01.2022 FOUND LEFT FOR DEAD ON LONELY ABATTOIRS ROAD A message last Tuesday night which Foster Mums teenage son Jake answered quickly driving out to Abattoirs Road where a girl he knew driving home found a very traumatised kitten hit on the road.. Jake quickly went into action by taking off his jumper to wrap the little girl in and I met them back at Staceys home where we quickly got her settled on a heat bag to bring her body heat back to a reasonable temperature.. She made no ...noise, she had no control of most of her limbs but didnt feel to have any broken bones or wounds except for some fresh blood coming from inside of one ear... She never cried out in pain except for some uncontrollable flipping and some neck arching... We sat with her til 3am and Jake took patrol till morning until we bundled her up and Stacey rushed her over to Jamestown to our Vet Geoff where she was quickly put on a drip.. Named Ariana this little girl has made a miraculous turnaround but is still in Jamestown under the constant care of Leanne who has been a miracle worker for this little girl.. Lets keep our fingers crossed and hope this sweet little girl will get back in Rescue soon and heading to her Firever Home Ariana who was very underweight is still having fluids /glucose under the skin but she is now sitting up and walking ...she has the most beautiful silver cream spotted tabby coat and approx 12 weeks of age ... She is one very lucky girl... A huge THANKYOU to Leanne and Geoff for taking this girl on .. I know you have both had a crazy couple of weeks . A huge THANKYOU and well done to Jake for getting out there quickly to get her off the road .. you saved her life mate See more
22.01.2022 MIKELL, MANU, VICTORIA, ARIANA AND WISDOM HAVE ALL BEEN ADOPTED SABBATH IS STILL LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME OUR BEAUTIFUL TEENS AND OLDER KITTIES STILL LOOKING FOR THEIR FORVER HOMES... We get many calls everyday for teens or older cats found abandoned, left behind when moving house, dumped and for whatever reason to try and take all these into Rescue is just impossible... as much as it breaks our hearts to say we are full... Bringing older cats into a Rescue or Foster home may not always work .. as they have to learn to deal with other cats / dogs /pets or children they are not used to .. its not always an easy scenario ... And this is just the problems for the healthy ones.. Also with kitten season around the corner these guys will all need to be Adopted and in their forever homes to make space for the many kittens that will be needing to come in... All these kits have different personalities and have different needs to the home they will be best suited in ... but I will explain this to families or persons interested ... We have 30 plus families on our waiting list for certain kittens and we cannot say how long the wait will be .. If you are on the Rescue list and have already adopted a kitten from another Rescue please show us the courtesy of contacting RKR to let us know your place on our list is no longer needed.. Anyone interested in adopting the fur kitties above please contact me and I can send more photos and give you some information on their background and personalities and the home they will need
21.01.2022 MANU IS NOW ADOPTED BIG MANU MAKES HIS WAY TO RKR FROM THE STREETS This massive boy wasnt in the best way when found living on the streets with a cat colony... This boy had only been spotted in the recent months and even though a little timid it wasnt hard to tell this boy was or had been someones pet at some stage as in less then a short while Stacey had him approaching her for a pat... ... With no posts or anyone coming forward for this very big boy he took the trip to Jamestown on Friday to have his vetting done a microchip and a vaccination... We havent noticed any spraying but being very messy from toileting he got a shave and tidy up. Manu is said to be 3-4 years old from his vet report but in good health.. Manu would make a great companion pet and will be available for Adoption to the right household .. See more

19.01.2022 UPDATE... The black cat who was a girl has been reunited with her ecstatic owner today who said she had been missing since Xmas time when she escaped from a window ... THANKYOU to Todd for tracking her chip for me contacting her owner and getting this girl home safe... She definitely knew her Dad and her home... THANKYOU to Elise and her parents for feeding this girl and helping to trap her .. well done ... BLACK CAT FOUND !!! A black cat has been at a Port Pirie residence and has been there for 6 weeks or more... After realising this cat didnt seem to leave at all and happy to live and hide under the house a trap was brought in to catch when a post was put up and a family came forward to see if it was their missing boy... After the black kit was trapped tonight and scanned it showed a different chip number to the families missing boy.. but this cat is microchipped and has tattoos so would also be desexed ... If you ono of anyone who has lost their black cat please pass information on .. If family can provide me with the cats microchip number... I have also contacted Todd from Port Pirie Council to help track down the owner
19.01.2022 WISDOM MAKES HER WAY TO A BETTER LIFE Trapped a few weeks ago by Foster Mum Stacey this girl looks in good health but wondering if the belly is now being well fed or maybe a belly of little babies.. Wisdom who was trapped from an area on Wandearah Road in Port Pirie was either born in this area or dumped.. She is an older girl, looks to be approx 6-8months old at the most and even though still timid she is doing great with Stacey and happy for a pat and belly rub ......C...heck out this beauty If Wisdom is in kitten she will have her babies comfortably in Rescue with Stacey and her family... or if not she will be available for Adoption once her Vetting has been completed... RKR will keep her condition updated
19.01.2022 MIMI, MOCHA AND MURPHY HAVE BOTH BEEN ADOPTED & MOJO IS ON ADOPTION HOLD WHYALLA BABIES MAKE THE TRIP TO RKR WITH 6 MONTH OLD SIBLINGS MOANA AND MAUI These sweet babies were only 6 week olds when they made the long trip to Port Pirie with their older siblings Moana and Maui who were both adopted together last week and are settling into their beautiful new home perfectly... ... Its also not surprising that these gorgeous tabby kittens were all quickly put on Adoption Hold with over 30 families on my waiting list... Im sorry the wait has been so long for some families but sometimes blues and fluffies take a little longer than tabbies and gingers ... but remember Kitten season is coming fast and soon the Rescues will be inundated Im sure Lets hope we see a big difference this season with the law of desexing and microchipping.. fingers crossed See more
18.01.2022 WETHERLY AND WHITAKER ARE BOTH ADOPTED TOGETHER TRAPPED, VETTED, ADOPTED And that almost how it went.. ... These two beautiful kits were trapped by my Fosters Stacey and Dave last Sunday .. went to Jamestown on Friday for all their vetwork, were put on Adoption Hold Friday Night and Adopted on Sunday.. One week in Rescue and wouldnt it be perfect if all kits especially timid street kittens like this were adopted together and so easily.. New Adopted Dad Gary from Cairns .. Ex Airforce Dog trainer has the training and patience for his two new family members and he was very much looking forward to taking his new little family home.. Weatherly and Whitaker (now Shazza and Dazza) are healthy 14 week old kittens trapped at the Port Pirie Wharf.. They will now have a home inside and an outside run made when older .... a safe life instead of the street life they were destined for .. 18.01.2022 NICKEL HAS NOW BEEN ADOPTED ABANDONED THEN DUMPED NICKEL FINALLY HAS FOUND HIS FOREVER HOME Leaving the appropriate 72 hours for cats that have been found is a waste of time for this boy as we have found out in the last 24 hours he was one of the cats abandoned by his owners when they moved out of their house .. . In the meantime while he and his mum were being fed by the neighbors Nickel disappeared for a week where we are thinking he was taken out to Napperby and du...mped... Trying to put the jigsaw together is a little difficult .... The Mother cat who had 3 kittens was also left behind and we will also do the best we can after Nickels Adoption to also bring her in and find her a forever home as well.. A big THANKYOU to Shirley who will Adopt this sweet boy who will soon become best buds with their own tabby girl .. Also Thankyou to the neighbours for feeding both these cats and hanging on to the Mumma cat until we can find a spot to bring her in Checkout Nickel in the bed he chose .. if anyone would like to adopt or interested in seeing photos of mum cat I will get some pics as soon as I can but have added a photo of both taken by the neighbours See more
18.01.2022 AVALEY HAS BEEN ADOPTED WHEN FOREVER JUST CANT BE A heartbreaking call with the passing of a wonderful man left the beautiful Avaley and Gypsy without their human Dad... A caring man who rescued Avaley at a young age and gave the free roaming Gypsy a warm bed to sleep in food and a place to call home if she needed it ... Avaley and Gypsy became close friends until their safe world was turned upside down ... ... With many rescue cats of her own partner Lisa and a twice RKR adoptee mum was at her kitty limit and we decided Avaley and Gypsy would come into RKR where we would find their perfect homes.... Avaley was soon snapped up and put on Adoption Hold after a call to another double RKR Adoptee Mum and Dad who I knew had been waiting for a white kitten to come in and even though almost a year old, after meeting the gorgeous petite girl she was put on Adoption Hold Avaley however has spent the last week at the vets unwell but is slowly getting back on track and will hopefully be back and heading off to her new home soon Gypsy being 6-7 weeks pregnant has gone to live in her new Foster home with Lyn and Ricky where she has settled beautifully and will stay to safely have her babies and eventually also find her special new home.. Gypsy has taken to home life and Lyn and Ricky get lots of head butts and purrs now and we think her babies arent too far away .. We send Lisa all our Condolences from RKR. We know how hard it was for you to part with these girls REST IN PEACE KINGSLEY

Three kittens timid of humans born to a mum who had been let free to roam undesexed having her babies in the safest place she could find.. Emily and work college Carmel left food and water hoping to gain their trust enough to lure them into a trap with food so we could bring them into Rescue and eventually find their forever home.. Two weeks after feeds started a trap was set and the smallest kitten looking around 9-10 weeks was caught .. she was named Emily.. Two days later a very excited Em messaged to say she had caught a diluted ginger boy who was named Elmer and soon another call to tell me the third kitten had also been trapped and another beautiful blue tabby torte girl joined RKR and Emerson was named... 13.01.2022 A SAD NIGHT FOR RESCUE AS A BABY GROWS HIS WINGS They say a Mumma cat always knows and while it seems a cruel thing to see a loving mum push a baby away .. sometimes we have to accept their is nothing else we can do.. After two weeks of finding little Vino pushed to the side and having to keep persevering this little man was too unwell and tiny to keep fighting.. Vino was so much tinier than his siblings and very unbalanced making him unable to hold his little body up ...properly while the other kittens blossomed as their eyes opened and found their feet ... Victoria is a beautiful caring mother and has taken wonderful care of her babies who are now 3 weeks old but little Vino was too unwell and crossed the rainbow bridge last Wednesday night See more
13.01.2022 WREN IS NOW ADOPTED LITTLE WREN LIVES FOR HER BEAUTIFUL BROTHERS Under the guidance and special care of Geoff and Leanne little Wren has made her Vetting Day without even skipping a beat... ... Friday was a very nerve wracking day as I drove little Wren to Jamestown for her vetting day not knowing if she had the same lung problems both her brothers had passed with.. So you could imagine my relief when I got the message from Leanne to let me know she was waking after her surgery and she never missed a beat.. I bet little Wolfe and Warrior were two little Guardian Angels watching over her.. I let Wrens new family know the good news ASAP and of course all fosters families who were also patiently waiting for only good news as well... These little darlings no matter how long are with us mean everything to each and everyone one of us at RKR .. Wren is happy running a muck in the kitten room tonight and I took some pics to share with you all See more
13.01.2022 TOBIAS AND TAHANI ARE BOTH ON ADOPTION HOLD TIARA ...TBA HERE WE GO AGAIN...... Named Tiara this little tuxedo girl was rushed to Jamestown where she was kept under 24 hour vet care with Geoff and Leanne.. who have now got her up and eating on her own after 2 weeks of special care.. we are hoping this sweet little girl will get the all clear to come back to rescue soon.. 12.01.2022 REHOMED AT RKR THREE FUR BABIES LOSE THEIR MUM, LOSE THEIR HOME... BUT NOT THEIR LIVES A call last fortnight alerted me to 3 cats desperately needing a rescue after losing their human Mum and about to lose their home.. They were collected by Todd at Council and brought to me to hold over the weekend while trying to contact RSPCA for placement...... In the meantime I contacted Gary who had just adopted two of our trapped timid Wharf kittens Wetherly and Whitaker. He had spoken earlier in the week about maybe adopting another cat older like a mother figure to help settle the now renamed Shazza and Dazza in a little better. I messaged Gary to let him know of the three cats desperately needing a new home.. thinking the sweet female of the 3 might be a great match... Garys quick reply left me speechless when told me he would like to give them all a home so they didnt have to be split up.. I immediately rang Todd and soon Leo, Mya and young Hugo were off to their new home with youngsters Shazza and Dazza.. who for the first time came out of hiding that night to meet Mya and Hugo who have turned into Garys couch potatoes.. Leo however is taking the move a lot slower but with Garys patience I am sure he will slowly adjust.. Both Leo and Mya were desexed and microchipped. Hugo however was not desexed and we do thank the family for sending through a donation to help with Hugos desexing.. If anyone would like to help with a donation for Leo, Mya and Hugo RKR would like to pass on to Gary to help cover vaccinations and worm /flea treatments ... With no vetcards or details found (except for knowing Hugo is 8 months old ) we are unsure of any vetcare they have had.. Just know in this very sad situation it is humbling to know there are wonderful people like Gary who has made this heartbreaking story a whole lot better .. Im sure their fur mum would be happy knowing they are all together and in a safe and loving home See more
12.01.2022 WREN, WICK, WASABI, WILL AND WISH ARE ALL ADOPTED RIP WOLFE AND WALLACE DOUBLE LITTERS TRAVEL FROM IRON KNOB WHYALLA ... A phone call from a lovely lady who is forever rescuing her neighbours kittens as the many cats are allowed to keep breeding called to ask me if I could take in 7 kittens.. 2 litters only born days apart.. They were only 5 weeks old at the time so I asked her to keep them with their mothers until they were 8 weeks so they had the best chance of survival and to which she was happy to do.. She sent me photos to which we gave them their Rescue names so we could send to the many families on our waiting list... A few days later I got the devastating message to let us know one of the babies had died so a week further on when all other kits were still going strong and very healthy I sent their photos and it wasnt long before all 6 babies that were making their way to RKR Port Pirie were on Adoption Hold.. And here are the little Cherubs that made the 2 hour trip on Saturday Morning.. all healthy and now settled into Rescue where they will soon head over to Jamestown to Dr Geoff for their Vetting Day... 08.01.2022 HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL YOU WONDERFUL KITTY MUMS, HOPE U ALL HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY A SPECIAL THANKYOU TO MY FANTASTIC KITTY FOSTER MUMS TODAY I HOPE YOU ARE ALL BEING SPOILT WITH PURRY SMOOCHES
07.01.2022 BEAUTIFUL AUBREE HAS BEEN ADOPTED AND GONE TO HER NEW HOME IN MOONTA THANKYOU TO ALL THE AMAZING PEOPLE WHO DONATED TO THIS SWEET GIRLS ADOPTION FEE .. SO VERY GENEROUS RKR RETURN TO BRING IN MUM... Almond, Abel and Atlass Mum was brought into Rescue after being listed on FB with their Mum as well... I hated driving away after rescuing her babies so after receiving a message from a lady I quickly put her case forward letting her know if I could get this girl a home for a small fee I would put it to the community of Port Pirie and Surrounds to bring in some kindly money donations to put towards the rest of her vetting costs which would be her exact Adoption Fee.. .. She was given the Rescue Name Aubree the same letter as her siblings who are all now adopted or on hold and we are asking if anyone could help give some small donations towards her vetting costs we would be very grateful.. . I was told Aubree is not even a year old and Im not sure if this was her first or second litter.. but she is now booked in on Wednesday with Vet Geoff Warren and she will soon go to her forever home and be the inside lap kitty she was meant to be .. Aubree is a sweet friendly loving girl who does like to hide under her blanket to sleep .. . Soon she will be confident and settled with no need to hide at all
07.01.2022 UPDATE:.... Seems that this boy also has a mum and both were being fed by the next door neighbor as their owners moved out and abandoned them both .. A lady came to collect the 3 smaller kittens and was meant to come back for the Mum but didnt ... These cats were left at a property in Port Pirie but I was told the boy was found and brought to me from Napperby... Whether this boy was dumped in Napperby or whether it was a lie (as was his age) ... is appalling.. At the end o...f the day we now dont have to give this sweet boy 72hrs as it seems he was left behind and unwanted as is his mum...I will now put his new Rescue name on this Post and he will be available for Adoption and we will try and find Mum a home as well .. FOUND IN NAPPERBY This very friendly boy was brought to me today after being told a 3 month old kitten had been found at a house in Napperby... As you can all see this ginger fella is not a 12 week old kitten but more like a 12 month old cat .. which now puts us under extreme pressure as finding a spot for a kitten is so different to finding a spot for an undesexed adult male when we all have adult females in our foster homes waiting on desexing days... but what can you do in a situation like this... send him away??? This boy is very very friendly and quite happy to snuggle into Carlys daughter Tarnee even giving her hugs... He is not chipped or desexed .... 07.01.2022 KARMA AND KOKO ARE BOTH NOW ON ADOPTION HOLD A TRIP TO KADINA FOR BABY SISTERS After finding these two sweet babies o. Facebook to giveaway Stacey drove to Kadina to collect after contacting a young teen trying to do the right thing.. ... After many cats being dumped at her father’s property this young girl has been trying to save the kittens by feeding the mums then trying to find them homes.. She told Stacey this has been happening for years now and tried to get help from local organisations which always fell through. Most of the kittens she said die as the mums are usually too young and I’d say undernourished ... This now won’t happen to these gorgeous girls and Koko and Karma will get to be Adopted and go to loving homes.. Thanks Stacey for taking the time to drive to Kadina and bring these babies into Rescue See more
07.01.2022 WISHING THE BEST BIRTHDAY TO MY WONDERFUL FRIEND AND OUR BEAUTIFUL RKR FOSTER MUM LYN
07.01.2022 THE DOWNSIDE OF RESCUE IS HEARTBREAK AS WE SAY GOODBYE TO WOLFE We are devastated this week with the sudden death of our little Whyalla Boy Wolfe.... As you know from their Introduction Post Wolfe and his sibling Wren came into Rescue with another litter from Iron Knob near Whyalla... His brother Wallace never got to make the trip as he died suddenly 2 weeks before and now with the death and an autopsy performed by Dr Warren we may now understand why little Wallace didn...t make the trip to Port Pirie... Wolfe was a healthy 1200grams bigger than most of our kittens on vetting day but afterwards the autopsy showed that the state of Wolfes lungs were never going to get him through an anaesthetic or maybe even another week or two of life at all.. Dr Warren said Wolfes lungs were so congested and underdeveloped more than likely a congenital disease passed from the mum cat to her boys... so without the anaesthetic on Friday Wolfe would have probably gone downhill and died as his body got too big for his lungs to handle.. The hard part of rescue is seeing how hard losing this little boy was on our vets Geoff and Leanne my foster families and especially to the family who had Wolfe on Adoption Hold for their Grandma ... But the hardest part to come is knowing we have one sibling to this litter left and hoping that because our little Wren is a female she wasnt tainted by this congenital disorder.. I have contacted Wrens family to be and we are hoping that the medication she has been put on this week will give her the boost to keep her safe... Wren is showing no signs at all of being unwell at this stage She is energetic, fiesty even beating up on the boys .... and getting many cuddles See more
06.01.2022 ERNIE IS NOW ADOPTED ERNIE FINDS HIS WAY TO RESCUE This sweet little boy who was unwell with a terrible cold and a round belly found himself dropped at Council after following a lad home.. ... He had a constant sneeze and tapeworm and spent a week in Geoff and Leannes care until He was able to finally come back home to RKR.. Named Ernie this little guy looks to be about 14weeks and has the most loving personality.. See more
05.01.2022 ESSENCE HAS NOW BEEN ADOPTED BORN AND SAVED FROM UNDER A HOUSE This gorgeous little girl seemed like a wild kitten when caught by Port Pirie home owner after finding this little black kitten living under their home.. ... After feeding for a few weeks and gaining the trust to grab and bring her safely into Rescue gives the chance for this little girl to have a safe and happy life.. Named Essence it wasnt long before Lyn and I had her settled eating and purring all in less than 30 minutes.. .. Her patchy fur showed signs of ringworm and she had a terrible case of diarrhea so poor Essence has to be in Rescue alone as we cannot chance our other cats and kittens catching either.... A week of medication for her yukky belly and some healthy kitten food, a revolution treatment has see this little girl put on some weight and fill out as she should but the good news for Essence is she was immediately put on Adoption Hold for a little girl and her family who has been patiently waiting for another Black Kitty to come home See more
05.01.2022 ARIANA HAS BEEN ADOPTED TO HER PERFECT HOME CHECK OUT MISS ARIANA NOW After weeks of the best care in Jamestown this little girl who we thought would not make it through that fateful night when found on Abattoirs Road hit by a car is back home in Rescue and doing amazingly ... Geoff and LeeAnne were just unreal with around the clock care with beautiful Ariana and this little girl who they have said is a Bengal Cross with her silver spotted coat has made a remarkable recovery.. Foster mum Stacey is now making sure she has the best care in Rescue and the shy little girl is looking very healthy in her weight and slowly gaining confidence living with other pets and children.. we do however think Arian would be best suited in a home with another cat as she has taken to our 8 month old mum to be Wisdom .. and we often find them cuddled up together A huge THANKYOU to the beautiful people that have given donations to help pay for Arianas Vet Bill .. Forever grateful Check out this beautiful girl now See more

03.01.2022 KNOX IS ON ADOPTION HOLD KNOX IS ONE MORE TAKEN FROM A GROWING CAT COLONY IN KADINA After a drive to Kadina by fosters Stacey and Dave saving 2 little girls after seeing them advertised on a Facebook site at the tender age of 4-5weeks , Stacey had kept in contact with the young girl trying to catch and save these kittens born to dumped mums close to her father’s property in Kadina... ... Knox was the next baby to be captured and arrived in Port Pirie a few weeks ago showing no signs of illness just a timid little boy not knowing why he’d been caught and taken from the environment he was living in.. Knox was doing great happy and playful until a loss in weight 2 days straight had our foster Stacey worried so he was quickly whisked of to stay a few days with Geoff and Leanne to see what was going on... that was 2 weeks ago and this gorgeous little boy who was also put on Adoption Hold is still undergoing treatment under the watchful eyes of our wonderful vet team.. Hopefully we will see this gorgeous little boy home soon and on his way home to his loving family See more
01.01.2022 THE ONES THAT PAY THE PRICE A call out 2 weeks ago to Duke Street finds a rescue I could not leave behind for a very young mum unable to take care of her two young kits in these conditions... The day was cold and rain had been drizzling and was set in for the night... The safe nest mum had tried to make was becoming wet and cold and the rain was starting to seep through.. Maybe she was between moving home but the decision to take these babies was made in a split second afte...r picking them up and finding the little girl with a missing foot and what looked to me as an infection set in.. With all fosters on board .. Stacey and daughter Jade did the quick trip to Jamestown where Geoff and Leanne were waiting to do what they could to these very young siblings... Lyn, Kaz and myself made the second trip back to the property to try to capture mum and bring her in but abandoned our plans once we were told their was another kitten.. To leave an abandoned kitten out there without a mum is something we were not prepared to do... Duke and Dory are still with our vet in Jamestown with Geoff and Leanne who are doing everything they can to pull these little guys through.. Both kits had bad infections and if not brought in would surely have died in a short time.. Little Dory is too young to do a major leg amputation so clearing the bad leg infection is first priority and it’s just one day at a time... Let’s keep our fingers crossed for these special little babies See more
