25.01.2022 Having fun with our new play food

24.01.2022 Why should painting be indoors. The girls and my son Connor loved painting outside and took their creativity to the wall which can be washed off if needed but I love to see childrens art work everywhere.

22.01.2022 Fabulous Playdough Recipe -> https://www.thebestideasforkids.com/playdough-recipe/

20.01.2022 I found out yesterday that this image had been shared by a Nobel Peace Prize winning politician in Egypt & appears on lots and lots of sites in that country. Very odd. Oh yeah and they cropped out my watermark. ....... Thats Arabic for Thieving Toads!!! Ha ha

20.01.2022 "Were going on a bug hunt,were going to catch some creepy ones.Were not scared" The children loved searching for bugs in the garden. Being outdoors encourages exploration, awareness of environment and an understanding of what lives and grows outside. We looked for bugs in the trees, under rocks and behind the plants. Teaching the children to replace the rocks and to search in a quiet voice enables the bugs to not be scared or upset.

18.01.2022 Outdoor play/activities

17.01.2022 Every now and again we go on excursions to various places. This gives the children an opportunity to explore their environments and learn new things. The children learnt about safety and gained social, intellectual and physical skills. On this excursion we went to the Willunga Playground and met up with other FDC educators and the children they look after. We all sat down and ate our fruit snacks and when finished we had a play on the swings and slides and climbing frames. We built a wooden teepee with sticks and branches and had a pretend fire in the middle.

16.01.2022 Education is a big part of family daycare so in the afternoons we have learning time. The children enjoy tracing around the numbers and letters and we look at things around us that begin with the letters.

15.01.2022 We are loving our new clothes line. The children have been enjoying role play and social skills. We washed the dolls clothes and hung them out to dry.

15.01.2022 We are learning about looking after our animals. What do we need to do to keep our animals healthy and cared for. Today was all about looking after horses.

15.01.2022 When the temperature isnt above 30 degrees we love to play outside with the water. I encourage the children to be Sun smart and wear sunscreen and hats.When the children dont wear hats i make sure they remain in the shade at all times.

10.01.2022 So much fun doing chalk drawing. Having a large chalkboard outside means more space for the children to be creative.

09.01.2022 Had lots of fun today experiencing corn flour play. We looked at the consistency, colour and textures. We made this one of our science experiments solids converting to liquids.

08.01.2022 A great idea for indoor and outdoor

07.01.2022 Finding blocks in soapy water and building towers. A simple idea that will be quick and easy to set up but the children would love doing this!!! https://pocketofpreschool.com/end-of-year#more

07.01.2022 Very useful for children

06.01.2022 Everybody loves water and today was an extra fun day as all the children got a spray water bottle and had lots of giggles spraying each other and their environment.Even Sammy the dog had a wash outside

06.01.2022 Hi Guys, I wanted to share a picture with you showing classic signals that a dog gives when he is NOT comfortable. Please note all four signs in these pictures... indicating that the dog is NOT enjoying this situation 1. Licking the lips 2. Showing the whites of his eyes 3. Panting when not overheated 4. Turning his head away Please dont put you children or pets in this situation. This is a stock photo of unknown source that we blocked out the babys eyes. We would NEVER put a child in harms way. 04.01.2022 #Repost @perthchildrensot This is my most widely shared post. And rightly so, its an important one. These are prewriting patterns, with the age at which ...children are developmentally ready to achieve these patterns listed below them in years and months. Being able to process visual information and produce a movement in response (e.g. copying these prewriting patterns or letter formations), is known as visual motor integration. Note that an X is not typically achieved until 4 years 11 months, and a triangle at 5 years 3 months. If a child cant form these basic shapes...then they probably wont be able to form letters. It is quite concerning then that there are 3 year 7 month olds starting formal schooling, where theyre expected to write. Not only are their visual motor integration skills not developed enough, their hands are also physically under-developed. In addition, recognising letters, understanding phonics and beginning to read are all needed in order for a child to write meaningfully, skills which children starting kindy typically dont have. We also know that when a child learns something that doesnt hold meaning, its unlikely to stick. So if you have a 3-4 year old who spontaneously asks or attempts to write letters, thats great; otherwise, there is no need to initiate or worry about this. Unfortunately there is a misconception, particularly with the way that the current curriculum stands, that earlier is better. Earlier is not always better. #visualmotorintegration #vmi #letterformations #prewriting #writing #kindy #schoolreadiness #earlierisnotbetter #toomuchtoosoon #letthembelittle #letthemplay #prewritingskills #foundationskills #phonics #phonologicalawareness #earlyliteracyskills #literacy #earlyreaders #reading #occupationaltherapy #paediatrics #paediatricot #kidsofperth #perthkids #schoolbasedtherapy #teacher #teachersofinstagram #australiancurriculum #schoolholidays See more
