24.01.2022 Vale sweet #Lucifer Bridge bound 29/06/2021 There was a boy, who came to the Rescue many moons ago.... He was in foster care, and he got in a fight. The kind that saw his nards get sliced open and the origin of his swiss cheese ear. He was rushed to the vets and desexed as part of a life saving surgery. He survived. He came to #ChateauxdeAdminAlly and never left, taking up the mantle from #KaiFatLad - desexed peacemaker and nurse manager of the palliative care girls. He stayed at #ChateauxdeAdminAlly in the roll of rodent volunteer for the rest of his days. He loved a good butt scritch, tearing around the cage in excited zoomies before racing back for the next scritch. He thrived. Over the last few months, my oldest bean became himself unwell. We could only keep him comfortable. Yesterday morning his age and frailty shone through more than I had ever seen. With all my love I told him "you need to get your shit together cause you are our nurse manager, and we need our nurse manager on his game". I came home from work, checking on him as normal....but nothing was normal. He was fading fast, he was hurting. I tucked him into my jumper, him barely moving, and high-tailed it to the place of peace. Last night my little nurse manager, the swiss cheese eared, nards free 'George Clooney of rats' decided 'I shan't' to my request that he get it together and he made his way to the company of all those he nursed and cared for. He went to the rainbow bridge, the place of peace, free from pain and in the company of dear friends. Safe travels on that rainbow bridge my little dude. If love could have saved you, yours would have been a life eternal. I love you and I missed you this morning. I will miss you always. Mumma #AdminAlly

Congratulations to the many people who thought the girl beans might take it out.... For a teaching moment, baby rodents MUST be allowed to open their eyes in their own time, even if it occurs in each eye at separate times, or if one eye seems only partially open for a time. NEVER force or assist a baby rodent to open it's eye fully. You are extremely unlikely to help and even more likely to do untold damage to the eye. If you are EVER uncertain about a baby rodents eyes, the only appropriate avenue of investigation is with your vet. Beans have sight sorted, when they are ready - they will.
