23.01.2022 Rejoice in this day. Fulfil your heart with the people, places and activities that make you SING Take action that invigorates you, whether it be as simple as reading a book with a cuppa, hiking a rainforest to drink in the view of the mountains, immersing yourself in the coolness of a waterfall or visiting a new park with your kids & dog. God gave us His GIFT of this beautiful life. Give Him all your heartaches and burdens as you live in the Peace and Joy He gave you. His death upon the Cross at Calvary washed us anew, from the death of sin and gave us eternal life. What can you do today to encourage another to live their best life too? 19.01.2022 Many times we rush around, prioritizing every errand, appointment, work task and person over ourselves. It's wonderful to help. It's also important to refuel our own body, mind and soul to enable us to continue giving. Be cautious not to allow yourself to reach "burn out phase" before you stop and reflect. Rather, take time each day to write out your "to do" list for the following day and make time to pray, journal, drink in the Word of God and immerse yourself in the outdoo...rs. Gently remind yourself that it really is more than okay when those items on your list show up again tomorrow. Today, just breathe in this moment, reassure yourself you're doing great, Mums especially, and for anyone feeling overwhelmed, you are in my prayers tonight. Give your worries to God and get some rest. Look after yourself, precious child of God. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28 NIV #everylifeisagift #thrive
14.01.2022 "Tired, but triumphant!" I came across those words whilst sorting through some old notes. Yes, isolation has been a constant Spring clean! I reflected on how much mums are constantly tired, exhausted, overwhelmed, juggling everything and yet expected to never drop the ball. And what if we do? Are our families and colleagues equipped to fill in when or where we cannot? (Remember: that's not our problem. Kids will learn to up skill; our colleagues can figure it out). ... Who places those expectations? Are they self-imposed? Or are we constantly people-pleasing and drawn to associate with personality types who will throw whatever they can at us, with the expectation we are fictional super women, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound with a screaming child wrapped around our ankles, a laundry basket piled high on the hip and a laptop strapped to our waist as we prep dinner with our right hand and type away with the left? Have we given ourselves permission to drop the ball, as often as we need to? Society and the media often measure success by materialism; the acquiring of worldly goods. What they don't laud are the achievements of mums: the kid who finally ate their broccoli...the floors that were cleaned late at night after bathing and feeding 3 children...the mum with mental health who managed to have a shower and eat a meal...the mum who celebrated 10 years of managing her own business...the mum nursing her sick husband...the mum in the armed forces...the mum who works on the frontline in healthcare...the single mum who just bought her first home after saving for 20 years, working 3 jobs and raising kids...the mums who volunteer...the mums who have lost a child yet help raise other people's kids as a school teacher...the mum who stayed in her pj's and said 'stuff you" to the outside world because playing board games and painting with her kids was the best definition of success and happiness. No matter how small or insignificant your triumphs may seem to you, dear Mums, they are indeed significant and impactful on those who matter most. What you say and do today, how you lead by example, is being watched and absorbed by the kids who look up to you. You matter. You are deeply loved. And as tired and sleep-deprived as you may feel, and if your kids eat cereal and a banana for dinner cos you "just can't" after your overwhelming day, we stand with you. There is no judgement in triumph. There is no expectation and no measurement. There is simply happiness. And usually mess. Oh, what a beautiful mess it is! Happy Mother's Day to all the tired but triumphant Mums. May you eat chocolate for breakfast, spend all day in your favourite, stained sloppy jumper and enjoy the fruits of your labour - happy, noisy, messy, loving, adorable kids. Rach x
07.01.2022 Talking with many friends online, over the phone and in messages. This time of solitude has brought up a lot of pain, grief, childhood trauma and past issues for many. Then today, a memory came up; a post I wrote 5 years ago. I feel it is relevant for this season. Forgiveness is between you and God. You don't have to see the person who hurt you and you can't see the anger or grief that you carry, but you can FEEL yourself letting go and letting God. That moment of realizati...on, of giving your burdens and worries to Him. Of asking His forgiveness over your sins and any hurt you have caused others in your past. This is the season for shedding old skin, old ways, old habits and allowing - receiving - God's breakthrough into your life, your family, your community. Forgiveness doesn't mean you are saying "what you did to me was acceptable". Rather, it means, "this burden is too big for me to carry, Lord, so I give it all over to you and let the hold, the hurt, that person or situation had on me, to be gone from my heart, in Jesus' Name, Amen!" Forgiveness is the strongest weapon you have. #laydownyourswords Jesus already fought the battle and won, and we celebrate His death and resurrection every Easter. Sending prayers, love, hugs and encouragement to all. Please #stayhome Thank you See more
05.01.2022 Superfood smoothie for my isolating teen Organic* + vegan Free from gluten, wheat, dairy, soy, corn + sugar. Can be made nut-free (use rice or coconut milk). Most ingredients Aus owned + sourced, where available ... Gut friendly. Nothing artificial. Recipe Rachel Kayrooz Bruce activated almond milk* Wray Organic fresh spinach* + fresh banana*, locally sourced OOB Organic + Serious Organic mixed berries + mango* (depending on availability at Coles) Amazonia pitaya* BioCeuticals NutraCeuticals Ultra Potent C + Ultrabiotic IBS COYO Organic vanilla yoghurt* Pana Chocolate boysenberry cheesecake coconut icecream* Planet Organic ultimate rice protein* Absolute Organic chia seeds* A mix of organic, fairtrade cacao nibs* NinjaTeen loves the Nutty Bruce activated almond milk! Instead of making our own (I am seriously trying to find the time + motivation, even during isolation!) this is a great option. They don't use any sunflower or vegetable oils like every other brand do and they activate the almonds, which is important for digestion and absorption (as activating denatures the phytochemicals). They also source Aussie organic almonds where possible. But please, if you buy some, leave some for us! Eating well by incorporating organic foods rich in vitamin C, supporting your gut health with a quality vegan probiotic, getting outside for vitamin D and fresh air (screen-free time!) and incorporating sufficient exercise and sleep each day are good tools for building and sustaining your immunity. Plus the usual #washyourhands and #keepyourdistance. Staying home and staying safe is vital for our healthcare workers and for those of us in the community who are immune-compromised.
