25.01.2022 Tomorrow sees the return of the honoured Kalgoorlie Cup. In 2019, Spiritual Warrior delivered the first Kalgoorlie Cup win for jockey Lucy Warwick and her father and trainer Justin Warwick.



25.01.2022 Nominations are now open for the Australian Racing Hall of Fame, which will be held in Adelaide on Friday, 14 May 2021. The Australian Racing Hall of Fame formally recognises and honours the horses and people who have made such indelible marks in racing. Nominations close on Monday 21 December 2020. 25.01.2022 HorsePower Australia and RWWA's Community TAB have today opened applications for its Hearts & Horses Scholarship program, which provides financial assistance to participants accessing HorsePower programs. HorsePower provides equine programs to individuals with physical, intellectual, emotional and social challenges through activities such as horseback riding, carriage driving, vaulting, hippotherapy and walking with horses.



25.01.2022 Anna Hildebrandt from Secret Harbour has today been crowned the winner of the prestigious WA Fashions on the Field Final, held at the Crown Perth Winterbottom Race Day at Ascot Racecourse. Congratulations, Anna!

25.01.2022 Plain Cracker had 32 starts for seven wins and $11,965 in prizemoney before retiring in January 2020. His new owners, who adopted him from Greyhounds As Pets WA said the following about their new family member. "Mr Boots has become a much loved member of our family. He is a really good match for us and settled in really well. He is a big softie and really tolerant of his Chihuahua sister. We take him everywhere we can, and we are getting used to his little quirks."

24.01.2022 Ahead of tomorrow's Hannans Handicap, we look back at the history of the race: Kalgoorlie’s feature sprint race, the Hannans Handicap, was first run in March 1897 and won by Laura. Notable winners of the race include Lorna’s Nuisance who won the race in three consecutive years: (1977-78-79). Saltilo and Perplex dead-heated in 1905. In 2019, jockey William Pike won his third Hannans Handicap (1400m) in four years when he guided Tellem We’re Comin to victory in a track record time.



24.01.2022 Five Carats, the mare by Speed Week, never made it to the races, however she has had plenty of success off the track. Kiara as she is now known at the Claremont Therapeutic Riding Centre, works with rider Mercedes Portaro, along with the guidance of M'liss Henry. The pair competes in the National Para Dressage Video competitions, which are held every three months. They have also been the Horsepower, RDA Dressage and 4phase Champions for the last three years.... In 2019 Kiara and Mercedes won the Millionaire Award at the Dressage WA Annual Awards. This is award is named in memory of the successful thoroughbred gelding Millionaire, and is presented to the registered thoroughbred who achieves the highest percentage of any competitor in the pony, FEI or para equestrian classes at the State Dressage Championship. Mercedes and Kiara are also on the State Para Equestrian Squad, and their goal is to one day compete like her hero and friend, Paralympian, Sharon Jarvis. We wish Kiara and Mercedes all the best, as they continue chasing their goals.

With a Certificate III in Equine Management, Bayley applies her skills and experiences to identify and solve behavioural concerns in horses in a safe and effective manner. Brought up surrounded by harness racing, Bayley specialises in standardbreds, and has competed in official hacking, show jumping and dressage. ... In January 2020, Bayley won the inaugural Ladies of Pacing Welfare Award for her efforts in rehoming retired racehorses. RWWA is excited to have Bayley on board as one of the Official Retrainers who will work as part of the Off the Track WA Retraining Program, providing retired racehorses with the skills and experiences needed to commence in their next venture as performance or pleasure horses.

19.01.2022 Racing and Wagering Western Australia has today announced that Albany Racing Club will host the $100,000 Western Australia Jericho Cup Qualifier on Anzac Day weekend, Monday 26 April 2021, where the winner will be guaranteed a start in the Jericho Cup at Warrnambool Racecourse Victoria scheduled for late 2021.

01.01.2022 Racing and Wagering WA and Magic Millions Perth have together funded a $50,000 increase in prizemoney for the next running of the Magic Millions WA 3YO Trophy, bringing the total prizemoney for the race to $200,000. The increase cements the Magic Millions Raceday, to be held at Pinjarra Race Club / Pinjarra Park on Saturday 6 February 2021, as the richest regional race meeting in Western Australia.

The Estate is a multi-purpose racehorse welfare facility, providing retirement services and emergency care for WA racehorses. RWWA also welcomed Official Retrainers Bayley Thomas, Alan Campbell, Tegan Cook, Maike and Andrew Turnbull, Tyla Schou and Michael Dagostino to its Off the Track WA Retraining Program. ...
