20.01.2022 BEST OF HOMES ONLY We would like to announce that our stable favourite, Dennis, is now looking for his forever home. Dennis is quite a character and has been an absolute pleasure to have in our stables. He has never been one to buck, bolt or rear. Easy to f/s/c. He is fairly laid back and not bothered by much but would still need a confident, intermediate rider under experienced guidence, seeing as though he is still an OTT and quite a big solid horse at approx 16.2 - 16....3HH. He is rising 6yo. During his time as a racehorse, Dennis has been on trail rides, plenty of work at the beach and done basic dressage in the arena (Videos available on request). Dennis retired 100% sound but his only downfall is the fact that he is a roarer. He had 22 races as a roarer, winning 3 of those races and placing 8 times. Being a roarer wont restrict him from doing anything else other than Eventing. He is currently out of work and has been for the last month. We have let him down off being hard fed and seems to be doing well on ad lib grass. Dennis last raced on 8/03/2020. We are not concerned about money but a good home is paramount. 11.01.2022 ADAM LANDS FIRST AS A TRAINER It was great to see Cranbourne Turf Club based dual-licence holder Adam McCabe breakthrough for his first victory as a trainer at ...Racing.com Park - Pakenham Racing Club on Tuesday when four-year-old gelding Dennis won the Lifestyle Communities BM58 Handicap (1000m). McCabe and partner Sage Scally currently have five horses in work, with some nice yearlings in the wings, and were delighted to get on the board at their 13th attempt. Formerly trained by Darren Weir, Dennis ($19) with apprentice Harry Grace in the saddle, led from start to finish, relishing the drop back in class from BM75 grade (Morphettville at first run for stable), proving too strong for the consistent Moe trained Doctor Coto ($5) and Trojan Storm ($6.50). One of the McCabe stables recent yearling purchases is a half-sister to Dennis by Lucas Cranach. Still the holder of a jockeys licence, McCabe prefers to concentrate on training these days and hasnt ridden in race since winning on Our Audrey (whom he now trains) at Cranbourne on November 24, 2017. The 27-year-old, who is tall for a jockey and has battled weight problems, has ridden 204 winners (47 in the city), highlighted by Avoid Lightning in the listed Lightning Stakes in Adelaide in 2012. McCabe is part of a growing list of dual licence holders, which include Michelle Payne, Linda Meech, Jackie Beriman, Sally Wynne, Rhonda Mangan, Steven Pateman and Richard Cully. Not forgetting Jade Darose who trained and rode Parwan Prince to a historic victory at Flemington Racecourse and Victoria Racing Club on Saturday.
