24.01.2022 MELBOURNE CUP DAY The Golden Eagle and Derby Day once again kicked off the phenomenal week long Cup Carnival and it wasn’t a day for the favourite backers particularly in the Group 1’s as only September Run in the Coolmore provided relief. The other three Group 1 winners went the way of double figure hopefuls in Shout The Bar ($34) on the right side of a photo finish in the Empire Rose, Johnny Get Angry ($26) taking full advantage of the slow tempo staying all day in ...the Victoria Derby and Yulong Prince ($11) completing the trifecta of upsets in the Kennedy Cantala. Meanwhile up at Rosehill it was another double digit winner in the feature Golden Eagle as Colette stormed down the outside to starve off Icebath’s late challenge to nab her on the line. But all the attention for quite some time has been building towards the first Tuesday of November for the ‘race that stops the nation,’ The Melbourne Cup. The Cup always produces massive pools for the exotics so the best of luck if you can nail it and if you're looking for a bit of extra information of each runner or either the ones your tossing up between check out our runner by runner guide here - https://www.facebook.com/racingrehab/posts/2817547741822408?notif_id=1604268942762475¬if_t=page_share&ref=notif Race 1 - G3 Maribyrnong Plate (1,000m) 10:45am DOSH, Ingratiating, Own The Night Race 2 - Listed Desirable Stakes (1,400m) 11:20am SWEET REPLY, Way To Go Paula, Joviality Race 3 - Super Vobis 3YO Plate (1,000m) 12:00pm HARD LANDING, Mr Moppett, Echoes In Eternity Race 4 - BM96 HCP (2,800m) 12:40pm KNIGHTS ORDER, Monmouth, Sin To Win Race 5 - Listed TAB Trophy Stakes (1,800m) 1:20pm AIN’TNODEELDUN, Ultimate Edition, Confrontatinal Race 6 - BM90 HCP (1,400m) 1:55pm TAVIDANCE, Pinyin, Groundswell Race 7 - G1 Melbourne Cup (3,200m) 3:00pm PRINCE OF ARRAN, Finche, Russian Camelot Race 8 - Listed Melbourne Cup Day Plate (1,800m) 4:00pm PURPLE SECTOR, Odeon, Harbour Views Race 9 - G3 HKJ Club Stakes (1,400m) 4:40pm WILD VIXEN, Lyre, Cordilla Race 10 - Listed MSS Security Sprint (1,200m) 5:15pm CHICAGO CUB, The Astrologist, Intuition

24.01.2022 Final standings for the Picnic Championship Final taking place this Sunday on Dubbo Gold Cup Day. Mark Schmetzer's gelding Military Bay topped the ladder winning 5 races adding a further 3 placings. Garry Bignell's Another Plan finished second and will be back for another crack at the final after finishing 4th in last year's edition. And top Picnic trainer Rodney Robb who rounds out the top 3 with his gelding Drummed Out and will look to reclaim the final after Mark Ward took out the final last year.

24.01.2022 ************COUNTRY CUPS************ KEMPSEY Situated on the mid north coast of NSW about 15 km from the coastline is the beautiful town of Kempsey. The town is where the iconic Akubra hats have been produced for almost 50 years, but perhaps the most notable export is Aussie country music legend Slim Dusty with the town inspiring many of his famous songs. And the town honours the cultural legend though the Slim Dusty Centre which celebrates the career and life as well...Continue reading

23.01.2022 THE HUNTER The Spring Carnival wrapped up last Saturday in NSW with the races now heading out to the provincial scenes over the next two weeks in Newcastle and Kembla both headlined by million dollar races. This weekend we head up the highway to the city of Newcastle for a stellar 9 race card featuring the Group 3 Spring Stakes and 1 million dollar The Hunter and should produced a great crowd for the Newcastle Jockey Club despite the restrictions. 22.01.2022 *****************COUNTRY CUPS***************** COONABARABRAN Sitting on the divide between the central-west and north-west slopes regions of NSW a hour and a half drive north of Dubbo lies Coonabarabran or as the locals call it ‘Coona.’ Coona is known as the ‘Astronomy Capital of Australia’ as the night sky is free of artificial light which makes for beautiful views at the nighttime. And Coona celebrates this connection through the StarFest in October where the Siding... Spring Observatory, which houses the famed Anglo-Australian optical telescope, is open to the public for the only time during the year. Coona has also become known as the ‘Gateway to the Warrumbungles’ a stunning mountain range which creates a beautiful backdrop to the town’s west, north and east. It has been home to rugby league player Kyle Turner, Distinguished Flying Cross recipient Noel Knight and influential indigenous Australia Mary Jane Cain. And this Sunday the townspeople will be itching to get trackside with the Coona Cup being sold out for a couple weeks and you can be sure if they aren’t at the track they will flock to the local pubs. The 1,600m Coonabarabran Cup (75k) jumps at 4:30pm and attracted a capacity field of 14 plus a few emergencies. I like Rodney Northam’s #Mo’sGlory coming in off back to back second’s including a narrow defeat in the Coonamble Cup last start and owns a great record over the mile (6:3-2-0) plus the bonus of a 1.5kg claim thanks to Reece Jones (4:1-2-0). Also out of the Coonamble Cup is Jane Clement’s #KacperBoy who dead heated for third at odds but has drawn wide here so will need a great ride from usual hoop Mikayla Weir (24:6-3-3). #ToulonBrook was the other third place getter at Coonamble backing up his second from the Bathurst Cup, with Kody Nestor keeping him at the mile (4:0-1-2) therefore place chance. Nestor’s other hopeful is #FastTalking dropping back from the city grade when running a distant second (2.5L) at BM72 level when forced wide, lean place. Another with solid claims are Stephen Jones’ #HitTheTarget has had two runs this campaign without threatening, up in distance and has open favourite in a wide open race but prefer place chances. I do like #CharmedPrincess each way, the Tony Newing mare’s last two runs have been solid making good ground late and if the rain comes will be my top pick with all 5 wins on soft ground and place in only heavy start. 22.01.2022 ************COUNTRY CUPS************ WARREN Lying beside the Macquarie River in the Orana region of NSW is the quiet town of Warren, it is only a hours drive from Dubbo and promotes itself as the ‘Wool and Cotton Capital’ due to its strong connections to both industries. And it is the merino sheep and the Auscott Cotton Gin which dominated the local economy but the main attractions of Warren are the Tiger Bay Wetlands a magnet for birdwatchers and the beautiful Macq...uarie Marshes. Warren also houses the Far West Academy of Sport which is responsible for identifying talented kids across 42% of the state and the town has been home to former president of the ACTU Sharan Burrow, country music singer Greg Storer and former Wallaby Ben McCalman. Tomorrow at 3:35pm we see the running of the 1,600m Cotton Cup (32k) in an open field of 9 runners but I will lean the way of #Mo’sGlory coming in off back to back second place finishes including last start in the Coonamble Cup, Rodney Northam keeps him at the mile (6:3-2-0) plus the 1.5kg claim from Reece Jones has her on top for me. I think the main dangers are a pair of last start winners in Kody Nestor’s #OnePound who is also looking to complete the hat trick after wins at Dubbo and Coonabarabran with Anthony Cavallo (2:2-0-0) sticking aboard. And #Playard who won by over half a length last start at Scone and Scott Singleton will be hoping he can keep the winning momentum going as it is he’s first start for the stable. Michael Mulholland is testing his mare #DivineJewel for the first time at the mile, with the key booking of Greg Ryan (9:2-2-1) aiding her chances MO’S GLORY, Playard, Divine Jewel 2019 Winner: BELLS ’N’ BOWS ridden by Wendy Peel and trained by Rodney Robb Photo courtesy of FaceBook page Warren Jockey Club See more

21.01.2022 *****************COUNTRY CUPS***************** MORUYA Lying down in the Far South Coast of NSW on the Princess Highway is the beautiful town of Moruya. A classic country town with a number of historic buildings lining the main streets, the character of the town is the traditional Aussie culture, an easy, relaxed lifestyle far removed for the hustle and bustle of the city. It is the ideal base to explore the surrounding attractions including visiting the various beau...tiful beaches at Congo, Bingie and Moruya Heads as well as Tomakin and Broulee to the north and these picturesque beaches play a major role in the town’s economy by attracting numerous tourists. You can experience firsthand the stunning Moruya River via the Moruya Cycleway and Kayaking Trail or visit the Historic Quarry Park just north of Moruya which is where the stones for the Sydney Harbour Bridge’s pylons were extracted. Moruya has been home to cricketer Sarah Andrews, musician Josh Cunningham, politician Norm Ryan, TV presenter Bill Woods and rugby leagues players Jarrad Kennedy and Michael Weyman. This Monday the town and Moruya Jockey Club will host the 1,425m Moruya Cup (75k) and it’s a great field engaged including plenty of city flavour mixing with the best of the country. Heading the market is Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou’s #Donandkim, last start placed at Warwick Farm with James Innes Jr (10:3-0-2) sticking aboard making the trip to the country scene, hasn’t won for over a year but a two time winner over the trip. Greg Stephens’ #PeytonPlace looks a good each way chance after drawing 3 and should lead quite comfortably, will have to carry the top weight but loves the distance (11:4-2-1) and Chad Lever (8:3-1-1) knows the gelding pretty well. Keith Dryden’s has 4 accepted including a pair of highly fancied runners in #PerfectPitch finished 2L back last start in Highway company placing the start before and gets in with minimum weight and an each way candidate, and #GungaDin coming off a strong win flying late over the 1,400m to score by just under a length, good chance but lean the place. 8 of the 17 runners meet again after contesting the Christmas Cup at this same track two weeks ago and from that race I would lean either the winner #Whiskey’n’diamonds from Greg Backhouse’s stable, rising up to the 1,400m (7:2-0-1) and 6 of his 7 wins have come on the Moruya track or third place getter #Roseirro flew late over the 1,300m so love the extra 100m for him and all he needs is a couple scratchings to give Terry Robinson a serious chance at Cup glory. 19.01.2022 ***************COUNTRY CUPS*************** TUNCURRY-FORSTER Located in the Mid North Coast of NSW are the twin towns of Forster and Tuncurry which are separated by the bridge over Wallis Lake. It is only a 3 and a half hour drive from Sydney making it the ideal summer holiday spot for families and tourists as the population swells due to plenty of accommodation, a variety of takeaway food as well as beautiful local cafes and restaurants and that classic lazy a...tmosphere you love when on holidays. The twin towns are surrounded by beautiful national parks and picturesque beaches which are popular for swimming, surfing and fishing. Tuncurry and Forster are packed with things to do one and the main event hosted by the towns is the Lakeside Music Festival which is staged right next to the picturesque lake and provides fantastic music, atmosphere, food and drinks. But on Friday the Forster Tuncurry Jockey Club will host their feature Cup Day with a sold out crowd expected even though it won’t be the usual packed house with restrictions. The feature 2,100m Tuncurry-Forster Cup (32k) jumps at 4:40pm and it will be up to Andrew Gibbons to defend the Cup, this year teaming with Craig Martin and his gelding #TavionPrince who won a Highway race two back at Rosehill on a heavy 9, likes to settle in the first half so drawn awkwardly therefore place only. Andrew goes up against his son Dylan who takes the reins of George Westwood’s #Tom’sKnight, won once and placed three times including twice over the distance (4:1-1-1) in his last 5 runs, rises up in grade but gets a 3kg claim to give him an outside chance. I like Warren Gavenlock’s #AmbitiousPrince ran 4th in last year’s edition and comes in off a narrow second in the Ken Howard Cup before a great win last start at Grafton with a gap to third, again another with a tricky barrier 13 of 14 but hoping Belinda Hodder (3:1-0-0) can find a nice spot about midfield. Another back from last year’s race is David Callaughan’s #ScottyBeGotti, finished 5th (4L) after leading and it looks an even tougher test this year for the 11YO. Matthew Dunn has dominated the country feature races this year and will look to add another to his cabinet with #ReadyForDanger contesting here, he has disappointed this prep but up in grade and also won 9 of his 32 starts, place. Melanie O’Gorman saddles up top weight #InvictusPrince who ran in Listed company two back only 3.5L back but only won twice the last being in 2016 before coming to Australia. Trainer Paul Perry has a strong hand with #NothingTooHard a solid record at the distance (6:1-1-1) and #TheGetaway who finally found some reasonable form last start in the Taree Cup when 2.7L back in 5th and also likes the distance (5:1-2-0). 19.01.2022 SPRING CARNIVAL It’s a punters’ paradise over the next week as we get to witness 24 Group races plus an additional 10 Listed races as well as the 1 million dollar Yes Yes Yes Stakes and 7.5 million dollar Golden Eagle which are both run at Rosehill this Saturday alongside Derby Day at Flemington. While the Melbourne Cup Day is the most famous day of racing there is no doubt Derby Day is the best card going around due to the sheer quality with all 9 races Group 3 level o...r higher and headlined by 4 Group 1 races. Meanwhile up at NSW we are back at Rosehill after a month away and they are back with a bang as the only major race for the 4YO’s the Golden Eagle takes centre stage. A massive weekend to start the week long Cup Carnival and hopefully we can find plenty of winners. 19.01.2022 **************COUNTRY CUPS************** SNAKE GULLY CUP Sitting amongst the mountain ranges beside the Murrumbidgee River is the charming, historic town of Gundagai. The town has barely changed since the nineteenth century with the main industries still sheep and cattle with a little bit of passing trade from travellers as well as the historic buildings such as the the pubs, Court House, 1929 Gundagai Theatre and the iconic Niagara Cafe mostly untouched since the early... 19th century. The other notable attractions located in the town are the Gundagai Historic Museum, Heritage Railway, Architectural Heritage Walk, Old Gundagai Gaol and the famous Dog on the Tuckerbox Pioneer monument which has resulted in a string of poems like ‘On the Road to Gundagai,’ ‘Flash Jack from Gundagai’ and ‘Along the Road to Gundagai.’ It was the hometown for sports trailblazer Thomas Wills who is credited with co-inventing Australian Rules Football and also being the coach and captain of the first Australian Aboriginal cricket team. Tomorrow the town hosts their feature race day with the 1,400m Snake Gully Cup (100k) headlining the day’s racing. It is an open race with #Sausedge holding favouritism after a solid run when resuming last start running 4th (1.5L) in the city, 2 from 3 when second up and Matthew Dale books defending Cup jockey Blaike McDougall for the ride. Danny Williams will be defending the Cup with a pair of runners both lurking in the emergencies in #MyBlueJeans and #Petaluma who I don’t mind at each way odds, 5 wins from 12 starts this prep and I think you can forget her last run in the Goulburn Cup on a soft 6 as she loves a firm track (6:3-1-0). Another couple that appeal at each way odds are Mitchell Beer’s #SkyCall won the Stan Sadleir at Wagga dominantly (2.1L) last start over the 1,400m (6:2-1-0) and should get a great run just off the speed; and Andrew Bourke’s #Howlowcanyougo won earlier this campaign at Sale over the trip (4:2-1-0) and narrowly missed the placings last start when making great ground late over the 1,200m. I think the Waterhouse & Bott gelding #RegalStage will be the one to beat off that great win at Randwick where he beat Perfect Radiance who is favourite for the G3 Spring Stakes on Saturday and should take some beating after drawing 1 and leading. 14.01.2022 KENNEDY OAKS DAY We head into the third day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival tomorrow with the Kennedy Oaks for 3YO fillies headlining the day’s action. As always Oaks Day has the tough task of following up Cup Day particularly this year with plenty of great stories coming out of the race, the obvious one was country Victoria boy Jye McNeil taking out the Cup with a brilliant front running display to claim his second Group 1. But you can’t forget the horse Twilig...ht Payment an absolute fighter leading all the way and credit to Irish trainer Joseph O’Brien who brought back the son of Teofilo after his 11th (3.8L) last year. It was Joseph’s second Melbourne Cup victory and he once again denied his father Aidan O’Brien his elusive Cup win as Tiger Moth settled for second in only his 5th start. No doubting the hard luck story of the Cup was Prince Of Arran who flew late to grab 3rd after seeing a bit of traffic early in the straight. But it was a phenomenal run none the less as he made it 3 consecutive Melbourne Cup placings and solidify himself as a Aussie horse. The town’s houses an Arts, Vintage and Retro Trail which features street art and the Lismore Regional Gallery or you could visit the town in June to experience the Lismore Lantern Parade for the Winter Solstice which celebrates art, nature and community. The town has been featured in the tunes of ‘I’ve Been Everywhere’ by Geoff Mack and Midnight Oil’s ‘Outside World.’ And Lismore has been home to entertainer Peter Allen, artist Margaret Olley, actress Maia Mitchell, former Socceroo Craig Foster, rugby league players Nigel Roy and David Mead and the band Grinspoon who met at a Lismore hotel. And this Thursday the town and its people will either head trackside or flock to the pubs and clubs for the running of the 2,110m Lismore Cup (75k). Tough to look past Craig Martin’s #TavionPrince two wins from his last 3 runs including a dominant last start win of the Tuncurry-Forster Cup over 2,100m by 3.7L with a further 4.5L back to third which was #AmbitiousPrince who also appears here off back to back placings and ran second last year. Kris Lees will be feeling confident after finally taking out his hometown Newcastle Cup last week and sends a pair of runners up for the Lismore Cup in top weight #TopProspect coming back from the city scene where he has ran second three of his last 5 starts and #Articus also been in the city but form not quite as good but did contest a Listed race last start at Doomben, both look great chances but forced to carry 7.5kg and 6.5kg more than majority of the field. Tough race to assess outside the main chances therefore would lean Donna Grisedale’s #Tiomo at value who has found form this prep with 2 placings and a good win two back at this track. Other events held by the town are the Minerama a gem and fossicking festival, the Land of the Beardies Festival, Pastoral and Agricultural Show and the prestigious Glen Innes Cup which takes place tomorrow. The 1,400m Glen Innes Cup (16k) has attracted a solid field of 10 but a great sign for the club is it has seen a total of 77 acceptors across the 6 races so expect a phenomenal day of country racing. It is tough to look past top weight #Upstart in the Cup coming off an impressive 1.9L win of the Inverell Cup with Matthew McGuren (2:1-0-0) back aboard, only concern is up an extra 5kg to 67kg which will take a special effort but Peter Sinclair has this gelding flying with 5 wins from his last 6 starts. Another couple coming out of the Inverell Cup are #Annie’sStreet ran 7th (3.5L) there and Gavin Groth has her in form with 2 wins from 5 starts this campaign, on speed solid each way chance and Paul Grills’ #MeltedMoments a 4 time winner over the trip and proven on wet tracks (30:6-2-5), goes back so lean place. Paddy Cunningham’s #ShiverMeTimbers is in good touch winning once and placing twice from 4 runs this prep, she is solid on a wet track (9:1-5-1) and Jodi Worley has had success recently (2:0-2-0). My top pick is Queensland raider #AbbRoy who is at her preferred trip (12:3-1-2) including winning comfortably by 2.5L two back at Warwick, drawn the rails and should either lead or sit just off and hopefully prove too strong. 11.01.2022 **************COUNTRY CUPS************** GOULBURN Located down in the Southern Tablelands of NSW is Goulburn a town known as the fine wool capital of the world and was also declared Australia’s first inland city in 1863. 10.01.2022 **************NSW COUNTRY CUPS************** MOREE Stationed on the plains of northern NSW and lying beside the Mehi River lies the country town of Moree. A place of relaxation and rejuvenation due to it being above the largest artesian basin in the world, the Great Artesian Basin and if you visit Moree you can discover the therapeutic benefits of the mineral rich waters which are naturally heated to 41 degrees at the Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre. Also ha...s an outstanding collection of Art Deco buildings which line the town centre and is best explored via the guided Moree Heritage and Art Deco Walk, or stop and explore the fine art at the Bank Art Museum. Plan your trip and you can experience the Moree Show in April or the delicious Moree on a Plate Food and Wine Festival in May. Moree was also one of the stops for the 1965 Charles Perkins’ Freedom Bus ride which bought discrimination against indigenous Australians to the forefront of rural and urban news. With the town producing local legend Mary Brand in which the park is named in her honour, first female Justice of the High Court Mary Gaudron, vulcanologist Tony Taylor, singer John Williamson and Olympians Cameron Hammond and Emma Moffatt. And tomorrow the townspeople will either head trackside, to the pubs or at home to watch their Cup Day take place. The feature 1,400m Moree Cup (40k) will jump at 5:00pm and sees a field of 13 to contest the Cup including Shane Edmonds’ #FreeBilly who is back for a 4th crack at glory with the 10YO’s best finish being last year when second (1.7L), good records at both the track (14:3-2-3) and distance (30:6-3-8). Defending the Cup will be Peter Sinclair who saddles up a duo of hopefuls in #Beacon racing back from the city after running in Highway company when back 7.6L and 7.4L and #MoreeDreaming who was a last start winner at Tamworth and has won 5 of 10 starts over the 1,400m. Another last start winner is Melissa Dennett’s #Ratler won well at Scone by 1.2L after racing 3 wide on a soft 5, third up (3:1-1-1) and built a great record at the distance (9:3-1-3). Cody Morgan’s #Pat’sNipper is coming in third up (3:2-0-0) after a disappointing run last start at Scone behind Ratler on the soft, gets back on a good track where all 5 wins have come on has drawn the widest but goes back and should fly home. I think the value is Campbell Roberts’ #Mysticism first up last start flew home late over the 1,200m so should appreciate the jump to 1,400m (12:2-3-0), draws 1 and looks a great each way chance. 04.01.2022 ROYAL RANDWICK Last week at Rosehill we saw the major lead up to the Golden Rose take place in the Run To The Rose, and it was Queensland raider Rothfire making a booming start to his 3YO season with a 1.5L romp of the field. It wasn’t a great day for the favourites as only the impressive Mo’unga saluted the judge for leading trainer Chris Waller as he warms to a big Spring Carnival managing the three winners with Desert Path in the opening event and the consistent Ha...Continue reading

04.01.2022 THANKYOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT I’ve tried to blog about 2020 for about 5 hours and to be honest I’ve got writer’s block as I try to sift through the challenges t...hat the racing industry faced. The team at Over The Line Racing wishes everyone a happy new year and we can’t wait to see how the next 12 months pans out for everyone. r s Pictured: New Years Eve 2019 at The Entertainment Grounds where severe heat caused the meeting to be abandoned after Race 2 . The sky was filled with smoke and ash and we were screaming for mercy as those with respiratory conditions/elderly/sick were urged to stay indoors and wear masks when outside. This year the same meeting was abandoned due to the rain and those with respiratory conditions/elderly/sick are being urged to do the same .

04.01.2022 BATHURST Situated on the Central Tablelands a 2 hour drive west of Penrith is the oldest inland settlement in Australia, Bathurst.
