16.01.2022 | WEEKEND WRAP UP | | SATURDAY | The weekend kicked off with our #Rescue300 crew transporting a patient from Moura Hospital to Rockhampton following a motorbike accident where the patient was suffering suspected head and pelvic injuries. ... Following the return to base from that mission, #RACQ #CapRescue was then tasked to Emerald Hospital to transfer a young child with suspected respiratory distress. The child was accompanied by their mother and transported to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition. It was a relatively quiet weekend for our crew, which we thank CQ for and encourage it to continue over the next few weeks!

13.01.2022 | First Rescue 25th Anniversary | For the first time in history, on February 18th, the #RACQ #CapRescue crew completed their first rescue. A Paraplegic American Tourist who was tandem skydiving on Great Keppel Island, required transportation after he unfortunately broke his leg. The mission was a great success, and the crew were later happy to hear that their first patient went on to make a full recovery.... The crew spent most of early 1996 island hopping along the east coast, performing a couple of rescues in the Gladstone region. It wasn’t until August 1996 that the crew carried out their first Rockhampton rescue the retrieval of a child who had fallen from a cliff at the foothills of the Berserker Ranges.

11.01.2022 | BUSY START TO 2021 | After the year we experienced in 2020, it's safe to say nothing can be expected. However if the first few weeks of 2021 is anything to go by, it's going to be a big year for our #RACQ #CapRescue crew! #Rescue300 kicked off 2021 by performing back to back tasks from New Years Eve and into the morning of January 1st. Since then, our crew have performed 13 tasks, varying from inter-hospital transfers to horse falls, and of course motor vehicle accidents. ... The first flight of the year saw the crew airlift a patient from Biloela Hospital after reports they had suffered a possible stroke. #RACQ #CapRescue's on board medical crew consisting of a Doctor and Critical Care Paramedic stabilised the patient prior to their flight Rockhampton Hospital where they then received further care. More recently, our #Rescue300 crew were tasked to Emerald Hospital on Monday morning after a 4 month old baby was admitted to hospital following reported respiratory distress. The infant was transported to Rockhampton Hospital in their care of their mother for further treatment. Whatever 2021 brings, the staff, crew and volunteers of #RACQ #CapRescue would like to wish everyone a safe, happy and healthy year ahead!

08.01.2022 | Fly Back Friday 1996 | 1996, the first year of operations, was not without its hiccups, however, the staff, crew and board’s focus on the safety of the Central Queensland community was unwavering. After just a short period of time fully operational, it became overwhelming apparent that the service needed a full-time, dedicated crew. Unfortunately, under the volunteer system, crew availability was not a sure thing, and nor did it guarantee that all crew were medically trai...ned to QAS standards. The uncertainty of crew availability sparked the board’s interest in investigating the possibility of recruiting full time crew members who were medically trained and would be available to assist the community all year round. The board were determined to resolve the issue as soon as possible, however, this did not happen in 1996, nor did it resolve in 1997.

08.01.2022 | WEEKEND WRAP UP | Launching into the weekend, #RACQ #CapRescue tracked towards Blackwater late Friday afternoon to airlift a 5 year old who was thought to have swallowed a button battery. The little tike arrived in Rockhampton in a stable condition. Enjoying a rare day of rest the crew remained grounded during Saturday, with their next call for help not coming in until very early Sunday morning. At 2:00am #Rescue300 departed Rockhampton, heading towards Charon Point. Known ...for it's high tides, fast flows and remoteness Charon Point is a well known spot among keen fishermen. It's a top spot until something goes wrong. A 50 year old man camping with friends over the weekend found this out the hard way after falling from his rooftop tent. Luckily, Rescue300 was able to land at the campground on the edge of the beach to treat the man for lacerations and a lower leg injury. As a precaution he was also treated for head and neck injuries before being transported to Rockhampton. For the remaining 298,000 people across our region, we hope it was a great weekend! Tasked by Queensland Health
