09.01.2022 Every Queenslander deserves the same level of care, no matter where they should happen to fall sick. When Petrea (mother of then 22-month-old Sonny) heard the words I think your son has leukaemia at her local Dalby medical centre, her world fell apart. She was still in shock as she was told that Sonny needed urgent lifesaving treatment in Brisbaneand she credits RACQ LifeFlight Rescue’s quick response for saving her son’s life on that unforgettable day. Onboard the helic...opter dispatched to save Sonny was Critical Care Doctor, Dr Amrita Varma (pictured), as well as a Queensland Ambulance Service Flight Paramedic and two pilots. During the flight from the local Dalby Hospital to the Queensland Children’s Hospital, Dr Varma and the paramedic put the equipment they prepared before the flight to use. The aeromedical team continued a blood transfusion to keep Sonny alive, as his red blood cell count was dangerously low. The helicopter arrived at the Brisbane Hospital in one hour. Getting to Brisbane by car would have taken three hoursby then it might have been too late. Sonny began treatment straightaway, and today he’s making a good recovery. He loves bikes, diggers and his family pets (pictured with his cockatiel)his energy levels are back to where they were before. By giving a gift today, you can help cover the cost of this lifesaving equipment, so crews can continue to be fully kitted out and ready to provide vital aeromedical care: https://bit.ly/2UULxrS

02.01.2022 The Bundy #RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew performed 4 separate winch rescues, in a mission off Fraser Is late yesterday, after a boat overturned, flinging the four men on board into the water. Australian Maritime Safety Authority - AMSA and our crew, say the successful rescue shows how vital a registered EPIRB is, in an emergency. The group had a beacon, life jackets and flares.
