17.01.2022 "I could not sleep the night before. I would be judged based on this three-hour interview that if I can stay in Australia, would I get my refugee status or would my application be denied and I'll be deported back to Afghanistan?" As the deadline for the interview surge approaches, Zaki Haidari, RACS Ambassador, spoke to ABC news about his experience of the interview process and how it can be a traumatic reminder of events many people had spent years trying to forget.

17.01.2022 Tomorrow is the end of the financial year and we’re in lockdown once again. Whilst it might feel like the country is at a stand still, the people we support must still meet strict legal deadlines to remain safe in Australia. Please, if you can, donate to RACS here https://bit.ly/3i6a764 Help ensure refugees and people seeking asylum receive desperately needed legal support at this critical time.

09.01.2022 Every few years, I’m asked [by government officials]: ‘Why did you come to Australia?' Well, it’s the same reason I gave you in Christmas Island, and in Tasmania, and then in Sydney. And still, I’m on a temporary protection visa.." Mohammad Sakhvidi, Engineer, Entrepreneur and RACS Ambassador in The Monthly:

08.01.2022 RACS, like most of Australia, paid witness to the horrific bushfires at the end of 2019 and felt the impacts of a once in a lifetime unprecedented pandemic sweep the nation in early 2020. Despite our own adversities, the hardships experienced of those we support has been tenfold. It has been a challenging year in terms of how and where we work, the ramifications of Court proceedings and new deadlines to be met en masse.... But we rose to the challenge and stood, where we will always stand, strongly alongside all people seeking safety. Browse through our Annual Report to read more about the impact of COVID-19 on the refugee community and how RACS advocated for the rights of people seeking protection, in FY19/20. >> https://buff.ly/2VWuw1k

01.01.2022 This has been a challenging year, full of uncertainty and hardship for many. We've all experienced a small insight into what is it like to live with uncertainty, which is something thousands of refugees on temporary visas live through every day. Through our work with hundreds of people only given temporary visas, we have seen and heard the impact of these policies and we have witnessed how it breaks people. ... As we enter 2021, RACS will continue to advocate for justice and fight for change, but we need your help. Please, if you can, make a donation to ensure men, women and children get the legal support they need to remain safe.
