24.01.2022 The next workshop job was another bike banished to the indoor trainer for some sweaty fun. The trainers are good, although they certainly take their toll on these road bikes with all the sweat thst ends up all over them. They should be wiped down after every session and if possible dried out. 24.01.2022 So with all the parts ready it was finally time to build this Mirraco Clipse. I used two of my suppliers for the build, BMX International and Oceania Bicycles. I used Black DRS cromoly forks, Candybars and Expert wheels, Saltplus Black Forest Camo sidewall 2.4 tyres, Eclat Army Green Shogun grips, then all Mission parts for the rest including their Control stem, Turret headset, Mid BB, Transit 175mm alloy cranks, with a 25t Nexus alloy sprocket and Black 510 Teflon coated cha...in with a both a half link and joining link to make the fit better. I complimented the cool Saltplus Camo tyres with a Stealth seat and seat post with Impulse pedals to finish it off. 23.01.2022 Bikes were ready, but legs weren't ready. It was a beautifully clear day, although very cool first up, so this didn't help me warm up. So after 20 minutes of just bludging at the back of the pack, then a gel I decided to test the old tired legs from 2.5hrs on the mountain bike yesterday arvo. So I went through to the front and just put in a bit of an effort and was told by breakaway mate Gary that we've got a break. 23.01.2022 My first workshop job today was to sort out a few issues on this cool looking Giant Trance. I've never sold Giant bikes, although at one time we were all set to do it and a shop about 15k away complained about us doing them, so the tiny balled rep gave me the bad news, so I told him until he grows bigger balls don't ever come back in my shop. Oh yeh I haven't seen him since, so sad, anyway, this one needed new Sram Guide pads, new grips, so I fitted these Oury double lock Black beauties on, then it was onto sorting the Sram GX rear derailleur that was sitting in the hanger apart. 23.01.2022 After being at the dentist this morning for a tooth removal, it was kind of ironic that my first workshop job was sort of the same. After losing a few teeth on the rear sprocket, it was crunch time for the poor derailleur not having some good teeth to keep it aligned. Anyway the parts are ordered from our Sram suppliers and it's home time for me to catch up on a bit of sleep I haven't had since the tooth issue. 21.01.2022 One of my workshop jobs today was fitting some 2nd hand 10 speed Shimano Ultegra parts that the customer bought in, onto this Orbea Diva. So after removing the original and tired Di2 shifters it was onto installing the shifters, then the usual cabling to the brakes and derailleurs then the final adjustments. 20.01.2022 I usually love building wheels, especially nice wheels like this carbon Roval Traverse. This was just a DT Swiss spoke upgrade on the ones that Specialized used and I guess they would be good enough for most riders, but they haven't been good enough for my mate Kevie. It's on a longer travel bike than what they were designed for but it shouldn't be an issue with tougher spokes. 20.01.2022 I had a wheel dropped of to me late yesterday for a service, as the axle was loose. As soon as I removed the Rotor it was definitely in need of a service, or more to the point a repair. So with replacement parts like hens teeth at most of our suppliers, it was wait a month for the stock to arrive or a new wheel, so with the young fella chomping at the bit to get back out and hit the trails it was a new wheel ordered instead. 16.01.2022 My first workshop service job today was this cool Contessa that I sold the customer back in the days of my second round of selling Scott Bikes. The wild graphics on the white frame was very striking and a popular style for Scott back then, which included some of their dirt jump bikes. They've gone away from doing it a little different to doing it the same as everyone else these days. 16.01.2022 Just received our latest top up on Northwave Cycling Shoes. I've been selling this brand since about 2005 when they were being imported by the then Orbea Australia which we also sold at the time. They've always been an awesome priced shoe, with their quality to match the higher priced, or overpriced other brands and have always come out with super cool colourways, like this Acid Green Scorpius Plus MTB shoe. The White Scorpius SRS has been an great seller for us and now with ...a new edition of the Phantom SRS road show it's great to get some stock back in. 16.01.2022 Well this was worth dropping the paint roller at home for awhile to come into the Rad Shop to receive. This is the Rotor InPower Crank & BB setup with that freaky Oval Chainring. They say it increases performance with less knee stress, I guess when pushing hard. I certainly can't argue with that, as Chris loves his wobbly chainrings and can produce a fair bit of power, especially on his TT bike. Back in the old days 60% of my work was to do with this type of bike and customer, although my triathlon days are over I still get excited with the aeroness of these weapons. Back in the day a 3x9 was all the business, these days it's out of business and a 1 by is definitely the go. 13.01.2022 So this brake set looks pretty bloody sexy even in the brushed metal look packaging. It's going onto a Canyon Lux Dualie with a direct mount rear caliper, yep that's the tiny little part in the box. Shimano have this in their current stock range where Sram make it OEM only. 12.01.2022 So my first workshop job today was a big one. As mountain bikes get older they start needing more and more maintenance, especially if they haven't been looked after from the start, I guess like this one. So with the new owner wanting to get it up to a decent level, it required a bit of work. The first thing that was desperate, was a service on the RockShox Reba. You can even see the dryness on the staunchion and once it was pulled apart it was very bad. So we come to a couple... of choices here, the first is don't service it and but a new fork, or as the bike is old, service it to prolong it's lifespan for a bit longer. The other things we had to do was a new chain and cassette as it was also pretty bad. The chain rings will have to be done next time, although probably cheaper to buy s new crank. 11.01.2022 Just got a small top up order of the best mtb pedal on the market, Crank Brothers classic Eggbeater. These pedals were released at about the same time I started Rad Cyclery and I've been using these ever since. Coming from a road back ground and the big Look system, these easy in and out design have helped me progress as a rider, especially my technical riding as I always hated the SPD mechanism. I always keep the Eggbeater in their #2 & #3 as they are similar pedals with a few upgrades fi r each step up. 10.01.2022 My first day of the working week is usually spent sorting out the week, which includes a few orders for workshop jobs, although as it's a short week due to a public holiday on Friday I thought I better start on this Platinum Service or includes stripping the bike to frame and this Scott Spark is due for it's Fox Fork & Shock service as well. So with all the parts off and cleaned, I've just got the suspension to service tomorrow and then put it all back together. 09.01.2022 One of my workshop jobs today was a service on this Specialized Roubaix with that freaky springy front end. It's a good looking bike apart from the matt finish which definitely needs a bit of work, especially that lime clean. 09.01.2022 Since those clowns unleashed Covid 19 onto the world, a whole lot of things have changed, which has included events to be cancelled or postponed. One of these events is the Brisbane Ekka, yep full of clowns, real ones and pretend ones, some show cows and those stupidly expensive show bags. So as we all love a public holiday they have decided to honor this with a day off this Friday instead of people's day on the usual Wednesday. So it sort of gives us a loong weeeekend, well ...for those that work Saturday it doesn't like me, but my boss has decided to give me the day off anyway as I've been such a good boy and done all my work and I've worked so hard over the last 4 Covid months. So the Rad Shop will be closed this Friday and Saturday. Have a great weekend of riding guys and gals.

09.01.2022 It was definitely a disc brake kinda day. With all the rad workshop servicing requiring some sort of Shimano disc brake parts today, which was a bit weird, but I enjoy sorting out braking issues, from bleeding to squealing brakes. The other thing is with so many of my orders being wrong or just bloody slow, I can always count on Shimano Australia in getting the order right and it getting to me in quick time. 08.01.2022 OMG who likes a squeaky Giant ? I guess any Giant shouldn't squeak, so with a complete rear end removal which includes all the pivot points and of course the rear shock, it's then down to giving everything a clean. Once it's cleaned of all dirt and general grime it's onto lubing everything back up and reinstalling with all the parts in there correct place and locktite on all the threads. 05.01.2022 So after picking up this Sram PF30 bottom bracket this morning it was straight onto installing it on to this Ridley Deam Fast aero machine when I arrived at work. So as I had the old crank out, it was just a matter of pressing the BB30 cups into the frame, with my trusty Park Tool, grease the bearing faces, then it was onto fitting this magical Rotor Inpower crankset with it's wonky Oval Chainring in place. 05.01.2022 Back in the mid 90's I developed a passion for black rubber things, oh yeh tyres I'm talking about and what a different brand, style and model did to the handling and feel on my stock standard Suzuki GSXR750. It never ever felt bad as a road bike, although once I started racing at Lakeside it developed a horrible head shake as I started to get to top speed. I would imagine the commentators sitting in their stable race tower would have shit their pants as I flew past, although... a tap on the rear brake and it all settled down nicely. It wasn't ideal as I wanted to go faster, so with a few dollars spent on Ohlins Suspension and a steering damper it sort of fixed it. I then purchased a set of Pirelli Slicks and bingo, no head shake and a faster top speed and of course lap times, genius. So then when I got into cycling I kinda carried this tyre thing with me and when I look at new tyres or brands, the first thing I do is feel the rubber, checkout the tread pattern and then try and test them for the puncture resistance, as I hate punctures wrecking my precious riding. the one thing I've never worried about is how long they last, as long as they stick like shit to a blanket. So talking about the blanket thing, my Hilux Ute has been like throwing shit at a fan, it's traction is everywhere, especially in the wet. So over the years I've tried all different Brands trying to rectify the slideways style, until I came across a set of Hankooks and it's now hard to spin the sucker up in the wet, amazing transformation. So I guess tyres aren't just black rubber things, they can actually change your ride or drive, and they've gotta look good too. I've used so many brands over the years on my mountain bike, from IRC, Michelin, Hutchinson, WTB, Continental, Maxxis, Mitas and I'll soon get the chance to checkout the brand new Goodyear Peak MTB tyre thanks to PSI Cycling, I'm excited !!!!!!!

04.01.2022 If anyone is interested in a set of Maxxis Ardent Tubeless Ready tyres, we have two sets available in both 27.5" & 29" in 2.25 width. 03.01.2022 Well, after a pretty easy morning at work, I figured I better get out on the mountain bike and do some work. So with the hottest part of the day being 2pm and about 30 degrees, it seemed perfect for a big ride. So within a few k's from home I'm into Cornubia Forest. Then using the link road out, it joins onto another link trail, which after a bit of dirt road and bitumen it's into the Bayview Conservation Area. As my mate Dennis had been out on his Jet Ski for the morning, a ...ride in the heat wasn't on his mind, although a invite for a swim and a nice cold beer on my way back was to good to pass up. 02.01.2022 So if any of you mountain bikers are needing a set of 29" wheels, either as a replacement set, a spare set or are thinking of going 12 speed, I have these Syncros XR 2.5 Wheels for sale. They come complete with 180mm Shimano Centre Lock Rotors, tubeless valves and rim tape making them tubeless ready. They are Boost, so 110 x 15 Front & 148 x 12 Rear with a Sram XD Driver for that amazing 12 speed cassette. 01.01.2022 So it's been a busy start to the week with a few mountain bikes that definitely need a bit of attention. As we ride in many conditions, either wet or dry it certainly plays havoc with bearings. Once our bikes get dirty or muddy enough to give them a wash the dirty water finds it's way into all the wrong places, bottom brackets and headsets. 01.01.2022 Well, well, that was another big day in the Rad Workshop, with a BMX U brake to refit for a young fella, then finishing off the Focus Jam with a new driveline, including that smart looking Shimano XT 11 speed cassette on a new DT Swiss freehub body. The old one was being ripped by a Sunrace cassette and it also had a fair bit of slop due to the outer bearing wearing out. So as the supplier are currently out of stock, I had to steal the freehub from a set of wheels I have been... minding, whoops. The last job for the day was to start on this old as, Giant MTB, with those trendy aero bars fitted on a bent handlebar, aah it's a classic. Anyway with new bars and a few other bits, it actually has come up pretty good for the customer. 01.01.2022 Some Rad Team photos from the new Ormeau Motorway Crit circuit. It was a bloody horrible day for cycling, cold and windy, although the new circuit is a good little circuit, although definitely not as fun as Luke Harrop Memorial. It was a 7am start, although 8am would have been better due to a Gym on the circuit with a session at the same time, so traffic was an issue once it had finished, otherwise it was good. There was only Mark & I braving the shit weather and as I wanted to warm up, I decided to put the pressure on early to shake off the wheel suckers then just cruise around until the end, leaving Mark to sprint for the line.
