This weekend we’ll be covering our warm season crops in all the frost cloth we have and praying to all the gods we get through unburnt, and then well keep on planting those successions before Summer. 06.01.2022 TOKYO BEKANA :: made it onto the crop trial list this Spring, and then jumped the starting line in this weeks produce shares as our salad green, when on harvest morn it was best on ground. At first appearance they look a little ‘Chinese cabbage’ie’, and you could use as such, but their leaves have a lettuce like texture, tender, ruffly and sweet too. We’ve been cutting them small, and adding to our lettuce mix, but this week we’re harvesting and bunching and we think they’re... a keeper! Give it a go salad lovers

03.01.2022 THE FUTURE OF LOCAL FOOD IS IN GOOD HANDS :: imagine worrying about local food security at 21, so much so you fly half way across the world to study organic farming and then spend your spare time volunteering on local farms to upskill, learn all the things, make all the mistakes and even learn how you do not want to farm, all so you’re ready to hit the ground running and feed your people when you return home. Enter Erena! E’s currently studying organic farming at the Natio...nal Environment Centre, and she’s spending her spare time hanging out at RADgrowers, chatting all things growing food, farming and family. When she returns home to Japan, where her fam are rice growers, this li’ll pocket rocket has some big plans to grow some Real And Delicious produce for her clan. It’s an absolute pleasure having E out here, chatting soil, cultivation, tilling, no digging, pooping, composting, cooking + chatting about the world issues over. We’re pretty lucky to get to plant some seeds with this keen bean. E pico’ed with a bouquet of our winter cover crop + a chunk of our nodulised, fungicide (of all the good varieties) and hopefully bacterialised soil goodness
