21.01.2022 Taking appointments this Saturday and some days/times available over school holidays..just send a message for any enquiries....

21.01.2022 Building up our immune systems is vital for good health. There any many ways to achieve this. Obviously a nutrient rich diet, exercise, fresh air, adequate hydration, sunshine, sound sleep, laughter, gratitude all go along way to achieving this. Our positive outlook on life despite everything that happens to us is a cornerstone of health as well. Recent, scientific, fully documented studies have demonstrated that a number of our population are extremely low in vitamin C to t...he point of borderline scurvy! Hard to imagine in this day and age. Lack of fruit and vegies in diet might well be the culprit but stress itself can contribute to low vitamin c levels. Our adrenal glands need vitamin C for full functioning ability. Vitamin C is considered a powerful antioxidant thus helping to boost our immune systems. Although currently there is controversy over how much we should be receiving in our diet daily..the general concensus in the naturopathic world currently is at least 1,000 mg per day. If we are currently unwell this can be boosted to up to 3,000 mg per day. Intravenous vitamin C infusion is showing promise in the area of cancer treatments not only as an adjuvant treatment but can improve outcomes for cancer patients receiving conventional cancer therapies. So consider supplementation and ensure you gain as much of this precious vitamin in your diet as is possible. We are unable to make our own vitamin C unlike some animals so must gain/maintain it from outside sources. Well worth considering! See more

20.01.2022 How many of us are time travellers in our minds, moving from what happened last week, last year, decades ago and then travelling forward to future possibilities, fears, concerns, issues. In this crazy busy life our minds can become a whirlwind which then sends our bodies into overdrive, filling our bodies full of stress hormones and so the cycle continues. Massage and herbal medicine can help greatly with dampening down the effects of ongoing stress but bringing ourselves int...o the present moment is a fabulous tool for pausing our mind chatter and grounding us in the here and now. All great spiritual teachers have stated that being in the present moment holds great power and such a calming effect on our whole being. As a monkey mind person i am practicing the art of mindfulness and to this end i use an app on my phone which gently reminds me at intervals to come into the present, to breathe deeply, to concentrate fully on any task i am doing etc. I am enjoying this practice and it definitely has a calming effect. Consider this practice in your daily life...for greater awareness and its calming qualities. See more

18.01.2022 Hydration is important for the correct functioning of our bodies. Water is our best drink of choice. As we age our thirst mechanism can wan unlike as children we seemed regularly thirsty. In the aged the thirst mechanism can shut down and the elderly may be at risk of severe dehydration especially in the hot weather. Generally if we can aim for 2 glasses on waking 2 before lunch 2 mid afternoon 2 late afternoon and one after dinner will keep the body working optimally. This can stave off joint pains due to reduced synovial fluid, headaches and brain fog, strain on our organs of elimination eg kidneys liver bowel skin etc. Skin loves water and the more hydration the better our skins look..cheaper than expensive moisturisers. If we can aim for this as well as other beverages we can keep our bodies a well oiled machine!

18.01.2022 Massage is a fabulous modality for our more senior community members and vital to our health and wellbeing as we age. My first senior client was a lovely 90 year old lady who came to all of our student clinic weekends. Though there was some challenges to get her onto the massage table, she enjoyed her experiences with myself and my fellow massage students. Infact she never missed a clinic. I would like to think that maybe those caring and sensitive relax massages added to her... longevity. Recently I visited a high dependency dementia ward in an aged care facility. This was quite an eye opener and something I had never experienced before but along with some insights I gained I offered hand massages with some essential oil and gave all that wanted it a gentle hand massage. It was important to be very gentle and respectful especially given their vulnerability (dementia to varying degrees) and the fact the aging skin can become quite thin and bruise easily. The act of touch is fundamental to the human experience and to be touched with care and reverence is especially important given the myriad of clinical and hygiene experiences they have daily, One lovely wheelchair bound resident who was also quite deaf, allowed me to give her a gentle hand massage and bless her,,,she promptly fell into a deep restful sleep. Since words were just gestures and her only real senses were sight (which was poor) and touch it was lovely to witness the restfulness on her face. If elderly folk are unable to alight a table or unwilling or unable to undress for massage therapy a gentle hand or foot massage might fit the bill. Seated massage through clothing can also offer a relaxing experience for these people. Either way our more senior folks can and should enjoy massage as part of their overall wellbeing and not excluded due to age and infirmity. See more

17.01.2022 Some compelling research is now coming out about daily supplementing with turmeric. Its main constituent "curcumin" can be a great ally in keeping us well. It has been shown to have strong anti-inflammatory effects without the deleterious gut issues. It has been showing great promise in cancer treatment/prevention. Further studies indicate it can help thwart dementia/alzheimers disease. It has the potential to lower systolic blood pressure. The taking of black pepper in conjunction with turmeric can potentise the benefits of turmeric making it more bio-available within our bodies. Its inexpensive to buy as a supplement or you can just add the powder to soups stews smoothies etc. Might be worth considering for all these reasons.

16.01.2022 There’s no ageism in massage therapy. I have had many clients have there first massage in their eighties. My youngest child client was 6 years old. There is not one person who cannot enjoy the benefits of massage. I have treated a pregnant lady from conception until birth of her very healthy baby. This client reported a short labour and easy birth. This was her first child and she was an older mum. This child is very calm, easy going and an utter delight to raise. I would li...ke to think regular weekly massages supported this wonderful outcome. I had the privilege of massaging a 90 year old lady at my massage college when i was a student. This lady never missed a student clinic massage and for the princely sum of $1 (which was then donated to wheel chair olympics) she enjoyed a full body massage. I often wonder if it was these treatments that kept her going into a senior age?. I have had clients with disabilities including MS MD and Friedrichs Ataxia. I have massaged young men in their prime who were wheel chair bound through trauma/accidents. Their limbs were taut, lacked tone and obviously had no feeling in them for these young men however odd as it seems they reported benefits from regular massage. So massage can help improve the lives of many in our society whether it is the physical demands of the tradesman, age care/disability workers/nurses sports enthusiasts office workers housewives children and babies to the very aged. There is no use by date in massage and all can enjoy the benefits! See more

15.01.2022 Massage has many fairly well known benefits but did you know it can stimulate our brains to release endorphins (feel good hormones) into our blood stream. It can help diminish stress hormones like adrenalin and help our bodies circulatory systems. It also moves toxins from within soft tissue in order for our bodies to release these in the usual way eg sweat urine etc. Thats why we will probably be asked if we would like a drink of water after massage treatment. It should be a regular part of our self care regimes and does not involve pharmaceutical drugs. Either way..the benefits certainly stack up..when was the last time you gave yourself the gift of massage?

11.01.2022 Hands up all who want a massage...its all about self care...stress release..pain management..immunity boosting..all excellent reasons but it feels so darn good too!!...book a treatment soon!!

05.01.2022 So welcome to my new business page...most of you will have been on my massage table at some stage..and know the power and therapeutic benefits of this form of therapy. Some may not have yet tried western herbal medicine but believe me it is just as powerful a healing modality. After all we have only had this type of medicine for around 60,000 years. Evidence of plant medicines have been found with human remains dating back that far!. That’s mind blowing. My passion is to hel...p myself, (and i have had my share of health challenges) my family, friends and clients to keep optimum health. Never forget health is the only true wealth! Have an awesome day all!!

01.01.2022 Its that time of year to consider ear candling. We spring clean our homes so why not clean our ears. If you are experiencing itchy blocked ears, minor loss of hearing, sinusitis, hay fever or are getting over a cold or flu this practice can help recovery. This is a gentle and safe procedure which has been practiced for thousands of years including the ancient egyptians. This procedure can also be amazingly relaxing and incorporates a soothing scalp massage and facial massage. PM to secure your appointment.
