23.01.2022 Originally known as Armistice Day, Remembrance Day is observed on 11 November and marks the signing of the peace agreement between Germany and the Allies that ended the Great War of 1914-1918. The Second World War began just 21 years later. Almost a million Australians served during that conflict lasted close to six years. Armistice Day was then renamed Remembrance Day. Now Remembrance Day is a day to remember and honour all Australians who have served.... The NSW Government will be streaming a live ceremony of NSW’s Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph in Sydney’s Martin Place on Wednesday 11 November 2020 from 10:30am. 22.01.2022 Dating and writing - snap! Episode #16 of 2RPH's New Voices featuring Joanna Trilivas and Wil Roach. In this episode, producer and presenter Maria Issaris Walsh interviews Joanna Trilivas - a smart, savvy writer who packs a whole story into a single page of wit and wisdom. Her delivery is deliciously deadpan and in this series of stories she targets dating and relationships. Critiquing her is Wil Roach: poet, performative artist, author, and Lifeline counsellor. He hails from... the Caribbean and is a staunch member of the Queer community. His book, ‘Gay, Black and Underage’ tracks his journey into his identity. What will he think of Joanne’s little blisters of social critique? Well, they definitely triggered Wil into making quite a few confessions. About dating, about love and about COVID. Joanna and Wil have both been substantially affected as writers by COVID. For Wil, his creative life has been restructured, but for Joanna, it allowed her to ‘look inside’. And we are all glad she did! Listen in as Maria supports these wonderful writers to talk about their creative process, and their ambitions for their story-telling. Broadcasting 5.30pm Monday 2 November on 2RPH - 1224AM, 100.5FM, digital DAB+ and streaming, www.2rph.org.au.

14.01.2022 NEW Lunchtime Book Reading // Big Bangs by Howard Goodall Looking back down the corridor of a thousand years, Howard Goodall guides us through the stories of five seismic developments in the history of Western music. His 'big bangs' may not be the ones we expect - some are surprising and some are so obvious that we overlook them - but all have had an extraordinary impact. Goodall starts with the invention of notation by an 11th century Italian monk, which removed the creation... of music from the hands of players to the pens of composers; moves on to the first opera; then to the invention of the piano, and ends with the story of the first recording made in history. BIG BANGS opens a window on the crucial moments in our musical culture - discoveries that made possible everything from Bach to The Beatles - and tells us a riveting story of a millenium of endeavour. Read by volunteer presenter Peter Theodore, this lunchtime book reading starts on Friday 27 November at 1pm. Only on 2RPH - 1224AM, 100.5FM, digital DAB+ and streaming, www.2rph.org.au.
