15.01.2022 Hepatic lesions will enhance at different stages of a multiphase liver CT depending on their vascularity. As a rule of thumb, a HYPERvascular lesion will be hyper-attenuating on the Late Arterial phase. The PV and Delayed phase appearance will depend on how quickly contrast washes out of the lesion. On the other hand, a HYPOvascular lesion will usually be hypo-attenuating on both the Late Arterial and PV phases, because it does not enhance while the rest of the liver does. This patient has both types of lesions, so it is the perfect example to show both at once! #radiology #radiography #radiographer #ctscan #medicalimaging #radiographystudent #thectmentor

10.01.2022 There's something satisfying about getting a perfectly-timed arterial liver CT. I think its a combination of the cotton wool appearance of the spleen, partially-filled portal vein, and any hypervascular lesions lighting up like a Christmas tree. So if you're ever wondering if you have timed your multiphase CT liver correctly, those are a few things to look for on the arterial phase. 09.01.2022 It's everybody's favourite anatomical trivia game "What's That Anatomy???" Comment below if you think you know the answer. I'll post the answer with a zoomed out image next week. Enjoy your weekend! #anatomy #ctscan #radiology #radiography #radiographystudent #radiographer #medicalimaging #healthcareprofessionals #healtheducation #thectmentor

09.01.2022 This is my very hi-tech waste management system in my CT room: Landfill on the left, recycling (cardboard, bottles, etc), followed by soft plastics that will be taken to the local Redcycle bin at Coles/Woolies, and finally paper bedsheets that I take home for my compost. Any clinical waste goes in the yellow bins. Adopting this simple strategy has reduced the number of bags going to landfill by over 50%!!! Plus I get loads of free compost for my garden as a bonus. #wastemanagement #healthcare #sustainability #radiology #thctmentor

02.01.2022 About a year ago I was having a beer with a some colleagues, and we got to talking about the training requirements for CT radiographers...more specifically that there isn't any! We all had stories about our own experiences and those of others where we were pretty much thrown into the deep end and told to operate a $700k CT machine, while having the equivalent of a 3 minute in-flight safety video as our training. I remember my time as a CT Apps Specialist, having to bite my ...tongue when qualified radiographers would admit to me that they didn't know basic (yet essential) CT concepts. How did we get to this point as a profession? How did the support and training resources dry up as soon as we left uni (or were they even there in the first place)? It was on this evening that the RadTrain CT Mentorship Program was created. A CPD program unlike anything else on the market today. The premise was simple: to provide relevant, affordable training that radiographers could implement straight away into their day-to-day work. Something that would build the groundwork for a satisfying and successful career. Something that would raise the bar of the quality and standards that we bring to our job as healthcare professionals. To be frank, I'm stoked at how much I have managed to put together for this program in one short year (all the while working full time and raising a toddler). This program contains everything you need to know to be an amazing radiographer - all killer, no filler! So if you're finding your CT work overwhelming, unrewarding, or if you want to take your professional development to the next level, then head over to my website and check out my CT Mentorship Program. I guarantee you'll walk away from this program with a new outlook on CT Radiography and your career. I hope to see you soon! - Tristan www.radtrain.com.au/ctmentor See more
