24.01.2022 Anxiety gets a bad wrap. Ultimately it is our bodies great protector. If we approach it with understanding and compassion we can help it recognise real dangers and not those that we hold only in our minds. Remember, you’re not being silly or weak when you experience anxiety. You’re experiencing your bodies greatest weapon. It just might be misfiring.

15.01.2022 Hey Vic. I know it’s only a short lockdown (hopefully), but don’t be surprised if you start to feel sad, worried, tired or worn out. Lockdown fatigue is a real thing and you (an everyone around you) might feel it this weekend. Be gentle with yourself and others. Here’s a quick read if you want some more info.

14.01.2022 Today we announced the single biggest boost in individualised learning support for students in our state’s history. This $250 million package will see 4,100 tu...tors employed across our schools to support students who struggled with remote learning. My message to retired teachers, casual relief teachers, teachers on long-term leave and pre-service teachers is: we want you and our kids need you. Please go to www.education.vic.gov.au to express your interest. My message to families is: if your child has fallen behind we will bring them back up to speed. Many students have thrived during remote learning, but many have also struggled. And it is up to us to give them the support they need. The package will support more than 200,000 students across the state. This is a one in one hundred year pandemic and we are responding in an unprecedented way. Our teachers have done a remarkable job this year, and with the additional support of on-site tutors, these teaching teams will provide every student the support they need throughout 2021.

07.01.2022 As parents we all want our children to grow up to have happy, safe and loving relationships. Teaching them how to do this starts young. Really young.

06.01.2022 Children can surprise us with their ability to understand complex words and ideas. Never underestimate them

02.01.2022 When we label things as ‘boys things’ or ‘girls things’, we’re telling our children that they should aspire to a certain form. We all want our children to fit in, so we subtly steer them in certain directions. Whether it be discouraging that sparkly top for our sons, or telling our daughters boys will boys. We want to protect them social rejection. We’re telling them that fitting in is paramount. But we need to constantly question what ‘fit’ were sculpting our children to aspire to.
