23.01.2022 As we celebrate Naidoc Week for 2020, we pay tribute to the Indigenous people who worked on the rail system in this beautiful country we call Australia.

22.01.2022 Thursday evening last the Rail Journeys Museum welcomed visitors from the Vintage Rail Journeys - Golden West Rail Tour. The passengers arrived in style in 16 restored carriages from the 1960’s Southern Aurora Sleeping Train, pulled by two engines (42 Class & 421 Class). The tour was into its second day with the train spending the night on the Northern platform at Werris Creek. Our Volunteers were on hand to show them around our beautiful Museum. The group were very impres...sed by everything in the Museum, which is a credit to our wonderful Volunteers. After nodding off to sleep in their carriages (to the dulcet tones of passing coal trains) the tour heads west this morning on the Binnaway line for their next stopover in Orange. Another highlight of the night was seeing a beautifully restored Clipper, that is following the train on its tour. See more

15.01.2022 Keeping Steam Alive for the Future What a better way to showcase a little of the age of steam, than in 2020 NSW History Week. We pay tribute to those that documented this important part of our history, be it by their stories or photos. Today we focus on Weston Langford, a railway photographer who has documented railways and related infrastructures in Australia and around the world, since 1960. The photos shown were taken in and around Werris Creek, by Weston, in February ...1961. Check out his Website for many more amazing photos https://www.westonlangford.com/license/

12.01.2022 A Pathway to Creating History As NSW History Week draws to a close for this year we wonder what our future descendants will make of the year 2020. One thing for sure is that there has been nothing like this since 1918, the year of the Spanish Flu. As they did in 1918, historians will document this year for those of the future to see. Here at the Rail Journeys Museum we hope that the history we have preserved will live on for those in the future to visit, learn and reminisc...e. If you would like to be part of that history you are invited to have a paver placed in the ‘Path of Service’ garden for future generations to see. There are currently over 2,200 pavers laid in the garden, with names from the local area, NSW and around Australia, it is quite a varied collection. So, if you would like your name (or that of a family/friend) and railway service record included with the collection just contact the Museum for more information. When the sun sets on 2020 NSW History Week, just remember - History is good for keeping the past alive.
